the earliest in sunnyvale was for monday. i was very surprised to see, however, that santa clara county's appointment site had appointments available yesterday afternoon at levi's stadium within hours of getting the green light. in fact, they had some same day. santa clara county plans to offer the pfizer vaccine to kids 12 and up at their mass vaccination sites like levi's stadium and others, mobile sites and working with pediatricians to make sure they are ready to vaccinate their patients. contra costa county is ready. parents can walk up or book appointments. additionally on may 18th they will offer the pfizer vaccine at a handful of school sites. marin set the goal of vaccinating at least half of the kids in the age group within the next week, which is quite a goal. napa county, st. helena hospital will begin vaccinating 12 and up as well. san francisco will have appointments starting at 8:00 this morning and the city's health department held a virtual town hall meeting for parents who have questions and concerns and the

right now, we are on sutter avenue where the sunnyvale department of public safety was first called after 3:00 p.m. today for a felony domestic battery of an elder. that was the sound of a diversionary device going off earlier this evening. it was one of the tactics used by officers and negotiators to get the suspect to safely surrender and come out of the home. he eventually did. they also used a drone. at one point authority said the suspect came out with a gun and pointed it at officers in a threatening manner. so officers fired shots. the suspect then retreated back into the home and negotiations went on for several hours. the santa clara county mobile crisis response team was also on the scene tonight. homes in the area were also evacuated. residents were also told to shelter in place. again, those orders have since been lifted. we've learned minutes ago again, that suspect has peacefully surrendered. officers are in the process of breaking down the scene. >> betty, do you know what happened to the other people in the home and the condition of the elder that was assaulted? >> reporte

surrendered about 10 30 last night, officers were called to a home where the sunnyvale public library on reports that someone was attacking a senior citizen. police were able to get everyone out of the house, but say the suspected attacker refused to leave, authorities say at one point, he went to the door and aimed a gun at them. doing the course of negotiations, a suspect presented himself at the front of the residents. he pointed a handgun at officers in a threatening manner. officers discharged their weapons in defense of their lives, man wasn't wounded. he retreated back to the home before giving himself up late last night. the woman who was attacked earlier in the day, was treated at a hospital for her injuries. police body cam video shows a mountain view police officer running right toward a burning vehicle and then pulling the injured driver to safety. ktvu is azenith smith talked to that police officer about. the courage he showed and what he was thinking as he ran right toward those flames. officer travis her back working the graveyard shift last thursday, expecting a routin

well, we have an update now to a developing story in sunnyvale. police say a six hour standoff with an armed gunman has now come to an end. the suspects surrendered to police peacefully around 10 30 tonight. it all started around 3 30 this afternoon after police say they got a call about someone attacking an elderly person. officers were told that the suspect was armed with a gun. police were able to get everyone out of the home safely. but the suspect refused to leave. and at one point, police say he walked out of the home and pointed the gun at officers. police then fired their guns and the suspect went back inside the house. it is still unclear if the suspect was wounded. now to martinez, where an explosion and fire destroyed a home this afternoon and tonight, firefighters say the cause was actually neighborhood kids who were playing with fire. ktvu is deborah villalon tells us those kids were questioned today. but tonight. they've been released to their parents. this was the scene in martinez at mid afternoon. ah fireball rising up over the vi
