now, as we head to the south bay, northbound sunol, the right shoulder and right lanes are blocked with a solo spinout and the blue represents puddling and flooding so there is a last cause on roadways. the storm is slamming the south bay and flooding roads. one is steven's creek boulevard where matt keller just arrived. what is going on, matt? >> the rain has lightened in the last ten or 15 minutes in san jose. but it is leaving behind big puddles and we are on stevens creek boulevard and we saw some of this yesterday with a lot of puddling on the side of the road and watch the cars that come by because they could be coming by and splash on us. we had commutersant station earlier and a last people are prepared for what is happening. but what happens at the end of the road, can you see there are looks that are piling up and causing the floods all the way down stevens creek up to monroe so this is a big issue if you have the leaves in your drain clear them out to get water off the roads so you do not have hydroplaneing. if you drive through this water even water as little at 6" if it is

from the sunol grade and south on 680 you will find moderate rain around the parkway extending to 237oderate rain and you can see at the golden gate bridge moderate rain but it is not going side s ways, the winds are less than ten miles per hour which is good news. another reason, again, why the storm does not have a stronger impact than a "2". moderate-to-heavy morning rain and another storm friday into saturday and the extended forecast is were more dry. hour by hour you can see by 6:00, light to moderate rain across our neighborhoods and it is starting to open up in the central part of the bay and the south bay and the north bay light-to-moderate and all of us at 8:00 getting light-to-moderate with that slipping into your neighborhood by 9:00 as it starts to manufacture through the hat of the bay and by 10:00 it is in the east bay, the north bay and the santa cruz mountains and by 11:00 to 12:00 you can see it is starting to transition to scattered showers. two-thirds of 1 inch in the south bay and the rest of us have more than 1". enjoy the dry wet wednesday and thursday because i

and then you go to sunol where we have some high level clouds. and they're thinner. lets the sun come on through. that's where temperatures have farther to warm up today. and we're in between weather systems, but this next one that continues to move closer still producing light showers just to the north of us. and it's also spreading some clouds into parts of the bay area. so we'll be watching that creeping in within the next 24 to 48 hours. look at all microclimates now it's 52 degrees in san francisco. 54 in the peninsula. south bay 58 degrees. as we drop in on the north bay, petaluma now at 5 1 degrees and benearby at 55. hour by hour livermore in the upper mid-50s by lunchtime. but then low 60s as we go into the afternoon. the clouds really not completely clearing out of here. and as we go into tonight it will be kind of chilly with lows dropping back into the upper 40s. but a nice break from the rain and warm temperatures to go along with it. in san jose we're up to 65 degrees, 65 in palo alto. and 62 degrees in the mission district. and petaluma 63 degrees. in

as we take a look at how the day shaped up from sunol, we start out at 6:30 in the morning and do a time lapse of some beautiful skies, a lot of color in the skies. the sun peeked out every now and then but also some low clouds rolling by. and that will continue until the storm system moves through and makes everything wet once again for the bay area. now, we've only seen some spotty light rain so far. the system is still well offshore. and temperatures have made it up to the upper 40s. it was such a cool start to the day. we were in the 30s in many spots. we even had some patchy frost. now it's 51 degrees in the south bay. and as we drop in on the east bay, 50 degrees now in dublin, orrinda now at 46. our temperatures still cooler than average and i think the clouds are helping those temperatures warm up a lot more slowly than we normally see. but every now and then we'll see the sun peeking out from behind the clouds. we'll be at 56 at 2:00 in san jose. more clouds into the evening, so don't expect much sunshine. and then showers begin later on tonight. maybe a lit l later for parts of

we are looking at the high clouds starting to stream in as we take a live look now at sunol. that just means the weather is about to change to a meteorologist. here's a look at the storm impacts we are expecting as that next weather system moves in. king tides may cause some flooding along the coastal areas. also the streets and streams will be rising as that water falls. and then with the wind gusts we could have gusts up to 40 miles per hour in some of the higher terrain. and the sierra travel will be treacherous with chain controls upmost likely. you're looking at one to two feet of snow. and there could be some higher amounts in some of the higher elevations. looking at this system it is pretty big one. it's fairly widespread. so as it moves in we'll continue to see it developing and producing more rain as it moves in late friday night. stepping out the door now it is 56 degrees in livermore. concord and napa at 57 degrees. and san francisco 56 degrees. still some long sleeves needed but we will continue to see those temperatures warming up. the futurecast shows that by 1
