(vicki) the bay area will see yet another period of red flag conditions. p-g and e is also warning that high winds could force them to turn off power to potentially tens of thousands of customers. kron 4's charles clifford has details.. well, red flag conditions have returned to the bay area. the national weather service says that red flag conditions will begin at 10p wednesday and continue through 7 friday morning. that means conditions are ripe for wildfires. especially at elevations over 1000 feet. pge also says that because of the high winds, some customers should be prepared for their power to be turned off.sotour meteorologist have been looking at the data and are predicting extreme fire conditions.pge has notified about 70,000 customers that if the wind blows to hard, their power could be turned off.this is a decision of last resort. it's not a decision tha twe take lightly.pge is also warning customers that if the power is turned off, any loses incurred as a result of

a look at our sunol camera, and we have seen at times the air quality improving in parts of the tri valley well as the east bay. and our temperatures now mostly in the mid 60s, and it's much cooler in spots where that smoke and cloud of smoke is really thick, keeping those temperatures from really warming up. so in spots like santa rosa right now, it is 19 degrees cooler now compared to yesterday. and ukiah seeing a high of 69 degrees. san jose reaching 76 degrees, and morgan hill looking at a high of 77 degrees. now, the red flag warning for the bay area has expired. but as we look ahead, there will be a new fire danger developing saturday night into monday morning. so a new fire weather watch has been issued for those areas, especially near the campfire and parts of the central and sacramento valleys and extending over toward lake county. so that's something we'll be watching going into the weekend. so it's been quite a while since we've had some rain. and as we look at our rainfall deficit, we are lacking about 2 inches of rain in santa rosa, and we've measured about 38% of average. but

as we take a live look outside in sunol, bright and sunny. beautiful shot here. and still those brown hills. but let's go over toward ocean beach. look how foggy it is. that just shows the difference in our microclimate as you head out and around the bay area. and then we can see the fog in the distance from tiburon. it's right over the golden gate bridge and hugging the coast. elsewhere, though, it's mostly clear, and our temperatures are going to be a little bit cooler as a result of the return of the marine layer and the fog for the coastline. yesterday in half moon bay, we were setting record high temperatures. and we were looking at some upper 60s for the inland areas. we're now at 71 degrees in fairfield. now, comparing that to yesterday's temperature, we're 18 degrees cooler now than yesterday at this time. and then for the inland areas, most of us are about 5 to 10 degrees cooler. as we go to the south bay, checking out our highs for this afternoon, we are going to be just 2 degrees shy of a record high temperature in downtown san jose if we hit 83 degree

and then we head down to sunol. you can see a few more of the hills in the background, but you cannot see it at this point. so only a certain amount of visibility there as you look off into the distance. and then our winds are coming in from the north. and then kind of blowing off towards the west. so we do think that parts of the north bay are getting the worst of it. but it's also going down into parts of the central valley and then kind of going throughout the hills and then making it into the bay area. and this is a look at our current air quality. and all of these dots represent a place where they are measuring the current air quality. and then where you see a red dot, it's unhealthy. where you see the purple dots, it is hazardous. and a lot of that has stayed off to the east of the bay area. but still pretty bad all the way around. and our temperatures are right now in the upper 50s and lower 60s, as you get ready to head out. so it's still cool for much of the bay area. so if you're going to be out, trying to

look at tiburon, only 50 degrees, and you can see the clear skies, clear across the bay, live in sunol temperature dropped down to 44 degrees as you get ready to head out the door. it's chilly in gilroy, stepping out the door to 40 degree temperatures. we'll blast that heater again this morning and as we go through the day, it's going to start to feel a lot nicer. lunch time outside it will be 70 degrees. the red flag warning for the east bay and north bay hills, all of the areas shaded in red and elevations above 1,000 feet will start to see the winds picking up later on tonight, and humidity levels stay low, only at about 8% at times. so with that, any sparks could cause a fire to spread fairly quickly, as our winds continue to come in from the north. as we look at our wind speed forecast throughout the day, it stays mostly calm, but then look at the time frame later on overnight into early tomorrow morning, the winds start to pick up in napa and also around antioch. and then we see those sustained winds at 20 miles per hour, those gusts may reach 50 to 60 miles per hour, as we go in
