it started last week in sunol regional park, burning more than 700 acres. out what caused the fire. no one was hurt. nationwide devastating wildfires, raising concerns now about how these fires may affect our water supply. wildfires often burn vegetation and sends ash into nearby water resources. and when those fires enter neighborhoods, they can burn homes, businesses and cars. these fuels can be dangerous if they get into our drinking water. >> when you have drinking water sources with an impaired ecosystem that impacts the water quality over time, and if you have impaired water quality, that can then prevent water treatment plants from being able to create safe drinking water. >> researchers say they're still trying to understand what complex compounds are being released from wildfires, and how they impact our water system. fewer people across california are moving into high fire risk areas, according to redfin. counties that were more at risk for fire saw a net outflow in 2023. that's a switch from the year before where those areas were still growing, a

the creek fire in sunol has been fully contained. it started about a week ago near the calaveras reservoir and burned 744 acres. there was an evacuation order, but it was lifted on monday. no buildings were damaged or destroyed, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. we're also following developing news this morning. engine failure is likely the cause of a plane crash that happened in the hills south of livermore. the preliminary investigation by the ntsb points to a complete loss of engine power in the air. it led to a forced landing yesterday. the plane took off from concord. the faa says it went down around 915 in the morning, landing upside down as you can see, the pilot was the only one on board and thankfully was not hurt. a san francisco couple is mourning after a pack of coyotes attacked and killed their dog during a walk along baker beach. they were with their three dogs on thursday morning when they were surrounded by five coyotes. >> partner grabbed two of the dogs. i was trying to grab peter, the third do
