i think it's not the unusual expiring of sunset and committees. you are starting to see there are issues here and like tony and the other speakers, i think you are faced with a bit of a problem in that have you two choices. one choice is to do something dramatic, like say, no this is not the time we're going to extend this committee. we're going to slow it down. and maybe reconstitute it and take a look at what we're doing and the other possibility is that because the function may be mandated by law, and we really do want to have that oversight work well, you might have to really take a look at the functioning of that committee. everyone agrees that the oversight is huge. there is billions of dollars at stake. it impacts the entire economy and that is one of the reasons that i think the problems are persisting. the other thing that is going on it's in the qwon connecticut context of the state mandate and the oversight that was intended from what i personally saw it's not functioning it's should. thank you. this friday we are able to celebrate the grand reopening of the sunset recreation center.november 16th at 6:00. it will reopen after a $14 million renovation. this was made possible through the 2008 clean and safe neighborhoods fund program. it is another example how our bond dollars are working to make park and recreation dollars better across the city. i was able to take an advance tour of the nearly complete site last week. it is going to amaze. it is really, really spectacular. tomorrow you can get a head start on thanksgiving at the turkey cook-off. a no recipes barred competition between youth and staff of each of the centers. this is one of the best and certainly most tasty events. you get to join the fun. anybody who wants to come can judge the award for best turkey, best side dish and best dessert. the best get started at 7:00 at potrero hill rec center. bring your appetite and your baggy tents. tree lighting. celebrate the season at the annual holiday tree lighting at the lodge in golden gate park thursday december 6th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., featuring free carni

i'm robert chief and i'm the park's supervisor in the parks in the sunset district. i've been working here for 3 years. we are 60-70 street below street level. the 64 acre park. the park is divided into 2 sections we are in the stern area. when you get over to pine lake meadow and pine lake, pine lake is considered a natural area. in 1847, the green family came out here, back then this was kind of an empty canyon and sand dun area. they claimed this property. in 1892. george green who's a second generation built the truckdaro club house. there was a hotel then. it was said this was the place to go if you were weary of the dirty city and the police. there were a couple of gun fights the front door has bullet holes. i don't ever repair them. 1931 stig mond bought the property from the green family. she donated it to the city of san francisco and had a specification, i'm giving it to the city that will be used forever for the enjoyment forever of the people of the city of san francisco. it has ever since. every summer the stern grove association in san francisco rec and
