behind these statistics are the stories of hundreds of longtime sunset resident seniors and families who have been forced out of their homes, forced out of their neighborhoods and many cases forced out of our city. they are facing the very real threat that they would become the next victims of the housing crisis and the next statistics. so in my first six months in office, my staff and i have really scoured for affordable housing opportunities in a built out neighborhood where new development opportunities are very rare, it families are rapidly getting priced out and displaced. when i saw taraval on the market , a six unit apartment building housing mostly immigrant seniors, i knew the city needed to step in. there were many challenges and we met incredible resistance. the west side lacks development capacity and resources are often focused on newer and shinier projects in other neighborhoods, but over the past six months, my office has worked closely with the mayor and her staff and the mayor's office of housing. we have engaged the nonprofit housing organization specifically met, t

for the past two years, they've been working together to make crucial improvements to the inner sunsettreet scape and nearby transit services that not only make the area more vibrant and more accessible, safe and reliable. when you look around the surrounding streets, you see the vibrant landscapes that add to the neighborhood's charm, improve seating, as you can see, visitor striving, new street trees. all of this creates a healthy environment and a great carbon footprint. what many do not see are the upgraded traffic signals, the repaved roads and all of the help to improve thed safety and transit service. there's many components to this project that has not been seen. we have improvements to the underground sewer line and improvements to our water lines, our firefightings were upgraded or replaced, all to increase capacity and to minimize any destructions that will provide more reliable service to the community. also, as a part of this project, there's more than 3,000 feet of pipe that was installed for the department of technology for future fiber optic cables and this is a great p

this sunset green boulevard, phase two will reduce sewer discharges around sunset boulevard. phase one was a pilot project for two and a half blocks, constructed by public works. phase twphase two will be 12 blm luola to you'r irving within the existing green space and incorporates a curbside inlet from the street, pipes it into the rain garden and allows it to soak into the landscape before it enters our combined sewer. we received two bids in june and we recently issued ntp to the low bidder in late september. the north shore push station is 35 years old and due for a major upgrade with four existing dry-weather lift pumps and allows for them to operate as redundant wet-weather pumping, providing wet weather conditions. this project will include improvements to the bar screen, as well as an overhaul to other systems, including the electrical, push controls and distributed control systems. and this project was advertised and was slated to start construction in september, but, unfortunately, due to overall safety program concerns, we have elected to close the bidding and we w
