do you expect the supreme court to expedite things as the select committee is requesting and where is>> i think the supreme court will act quickly. one thing that's encouraging to see in the dispute over national archives documents, courts moved for once quickly. it has taken two months to get from first stage of district court through court of appeals and to the supreme court. if the supreme court says no, we're not taking this case, that's it. documents go over from national archives to the committee. they'll be crucial documents from inner circle of the white house. if the supreme court takes it, they're going to come to the same ruling that's been reached by lower courts. they'll say of course the committee gets these documents. they have compelling legal need and donald trump has no privilege, that he can exercise as former president in this scenario. not sure whether the supreme court will even take it because i think the ruling below is clear and obviously correct, there's no need for the supreme court to step in and say you got it wrong. those documents are going over and i th

supreme court takes up the case. and if they block those documents in the meantime, but the court could move quickly here. they don't have to. these documents, they will remain blocked from the committeeurt acts. the justices aren't scheduled to conference until that first week of january. that's when they could decide whether or not to take up this case. but the justices likely won't wait too long. they'll be aware this case is time sensitive, and the committee, of course, is looking to ramp up this investigation in the next few months, and these documents are definitely key. paula and christine? >> all right, jessica. paula, you've been covering the january 6th committee extensively. this question of executive privilege is something the supreme court has never really resolved, right? >> well, certainly not the question that they've been posed here, which is what protections do a former president have to a congressional request when the current president does not want to assert executive privilege. that is a novel constitutional question. it's unclear, though, if the court will take it up. look, it is possible that these documents are covered by executive privilege, but historically
