the news conference is now beginning in surfside, florida. let's listen in. >> we also expect landfall along the west coast tomorrow morning. it's important that floridians don't focus necessarily on the cone, as we know impacts are expected well outside the area of the cone. the storm will likely be lopsided with most of the rainfall to the east of the center of the storm. right now, we have tropical storm warnings for 22 counties along florida's west coast and a hurricane watch is now in effect for the florida coast stretching from pinellas to dixie. storm surge continues to be a concern. there is a storm surge warning in effect for 12 counties between taylor and lee counties on the gulf coast. as we know here in florida, storm surge can be dangerous and life-threatening. we ask locals heed the emergency warnings and do not go to the beach. much of north and central florida experienced above normal rainfall over the past two weeks so we are anticipating an increase and potential qualifieding conditions especially since we've seen that 300%

fox news alert now from surfside, florida.are awaiting a news conference soon on the search of that collapsed condo. three more people were found dead in the rubble this morning bringing the death toll to 27 with more than 115 people still missing. rescue efforts resumed early this morning after the remaining portion of the condo was demolished last night. crews feared what was still standing was unstable with tropical storm elsa approaching. charles watson is live in surfside. charles. >> good morning. rescue crews are back on the collapse site after the rest of the tower was demolished late last night. they imploded what was left of the 13 story tower just after 10:30 sunday night. it happened in a matter of seconds. you see the explosives go off and then the building comes crashing to the ground. the plume of dust was so thick it could be seen from nearly a mile away. officials were racing to bring that remaining section of the building down before any impact of tropical storm elsa could be felt. the building completely dem

let's go to phil keating in surfside with more. phil? >> neil, president biden and the first lady left washington flying in here early this morning marking one week to the day that half of surfside's champlain towers south condo building plummeted, pancaked down to the grounds. happened at 1:30 a.m. and most of the residents were, as you imagined, sleeping. the first thing the presidential motorcade did is arrived 12 blocks north of here in the neighboring town of bell harbor where he received a command briefing of this desperate operation. meeting him were the florida and federal leaders of the search and rescue mission, ron desantis, marco rubio and rick scott as well as the surfside mayor and miami-dade county mayor. he met with search and rescue team members and people doing the work on the pile of rubble the last week. after that, he met with family members of the 145 condo residents that remain unaccounted as well as residents of the building that survived but have lost everything. that part of biden's day was closed to the press.

several days ago the cone of uncertainty included surfside. that got them to think, well, we've got to do something. even though it's moving to the west doesn't mean they're out of this completely. in yellow are the tropical storm force winds that are sustained. you can get gusts outside this area, but it will move up the western coast. as we have landfall which will be wednesday morning, cedar key, maybe even north of there. tampa is going to get into it. the probability, and this has been the main concern, not the rains, but the winds. when you look at tropical storm force winds and the probability, right now it's great, mainly offshore for the greatest amount. you start getting ft. myers, 50%, tampa 40, gainesville 45. see that 7% in surfside? outer bands, even though this time of year these are not monstrous storms. it's possible, but i doubt. remember how red it was at the top of the infrared satellite imagery. look at the lightning moving in. moments ago we had a severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning. that right there val da

what is your biggest concern for surfside?well, currently, as you know, the governor has declared, obviously, a state of emergency. he is currently in the state's eoc, where at a level one, we've activated 24/7 operations. we are obviously expecting it to ven strengthen. it will likely approach category 1 before it makes landfall. we are looking at the area north of tampa, north of hillsborough county. and obviously for us, the d concern is the saturation that has occurred in that particular area. we've seen a 100% increase in what would be the usual amount of landfall in the last 14 days in that area. so, obviously, flooding, storm surge, all the things that come with a strong tropical storm and obviously, a hurricane, are going to continue to concern us, and that's why we're asking floridians to please heed their local emergency manager's warnings. if your area is under evacuation, right now, there's only a voluntary evacuation for a handful of counties, but that could change as we see the track change and as we see the situ

randi kaye joins us, now, from surfside.i, you are learning more about one of the victims. what can you tell us? >> well, john, another child has been pulled from the rubble. this time, a 7-year-old girl. she was recovered by miami fire search and rescue. and it turns out, that she is the daughter of a firefighter who works with miami fire search and rescue. he was actually working on the pile, at the time. he did not find his daughter. but a search team from task force two did and they called him over and told him that tragic news. so you can just imagine, john, how difficult it is for this family. this little girl has not been identified, publicly. nor, has her father. the family is asking for privacy, at this time. but certainly, a very, very difficult situation for them, like it is for so many families here in the surfside area. also, tonight, john. we are learning more about those who ran for safety, as that building came crumbling down around them. and we are hearing stories of neighbors jumping into action to save nei
