team had his surrounded in a roslindale apartment but he got away. victoria warren is live for us with more on the search. >> reporter: good morning, jadiann, this standoff lasted for hours. it turns out the suspect wasn't even inside. police say he had escaped by jumping out a window. the jump was a 30-foot drop. and police say that this man is wanted for a violent robbery and stabbing last friday. they got tipped off he came to his roslindale apartment so they showed up to arrest him. he barricaded himself inside with women and children. police tried to negotiate. after the suspect fled the people in the apartment didn't cooperate and didn't come out so police had to force their way inside. >> we did a forced entry using spreader bars. and then the two women and four children came out of the apartment. we searched the rest of the apartment and the individual was not there. so then someone else came forward and said he jumped out the window and took off. >> those two women and four children were not hurt in any of this. police are still searching fo
