this is the susan g. komen blue rinl foundation. it works to help patients fighting cancer, researching and all that stuff they do to try to make a better life for adult folks in the area. the last few weeks we've been telling encouraging stories of cancer survivors. you've been watching them on "good day, virginia" every week and today is no exception. we're joined by cathy york and her husband mark york. first thank you for joining us. i know it's early. >> thank you. >> reporter: we're glad it's in. >> i know you have breast cancer, but what type of breast cancer? >> triple negative. >> breast cancer. >> and can you tell us what that means? >> it's not drifp by hormones so it's the higher chance of recurrence and it is more aggressive. >> january: so it's more aggress and i have that is very -- it's scary. how did you feel when you were first told you have cancer? >> devastated at first. i had just lost my best friend in january of the same year in 2014 to breast cancer. >> wow! >> devastation at first, but it's -- it got better.

susan g. komenrogram offering support to first year breast cancer survivors. chris, and domenique, join us now to tell us more about this terrific program. thank you both for joining us. now, you had one time but two time breast cancer survivor. can you tell me about your storey? >> yes. i was diagnosed first in 2008. and then again this past year. so survivor from a while, but also a new survivor. and the komen organization has team up with the sugarhouse casino to create this new program for first year survivors. and i think it really is fulfilling a need in the community. >> domenique, i understand you're undergoing treatment right now. >> yes. >> how has this program helped you? i can't imagine, the diagnosis, but you need the support. >> yes. well, i met a lot of new people. and i feel like it is really good to have spoke to someone who has been going through what you are going through, face-to-face, whereas a lot of people have been calling me on the phone, but it feels good when you're actual
