this was heyman's land just south of sutro's. you could seat cars lined up waiting for buyers, essentially. in the background you have some of these novel seaside cottages. he left the cars exposed on purpose. it was a publicity thing. you might come out picnicing or walking along the great highway on the weekend and thought what the heck is that thing? you go over, buy a lot, $35 two cars, can't miss. this is that same view just a knew months later. we're talking about mid 1899 now. you can see the cars are all starting to be put to use in buildings. they'd come up with all of these different patterns. this car on the left is two cars end-to-end with a connecting vestibule. it's kind of an i pattern so you could have a cabin in one car, a compartment in one car. the other car might be your mother-in-law. and you could meet in the middle in that sorted of connecting section for breakfast. they did similar things. they'd put like four in a cross with a connecting part in the middle. and you could see these are not exactly a.d.a. a

let me show you a view from the sutro camera. it was a beautiful day. you can see the clouds going in different directions. it was a windy one as well. sunset at 7:43. the clouds are still out there and we will be seeing rain soon. temperatures in the 40s, but combine it with the wind and 20 and 30 miles an hour over the ocean water and it is feeling colder outside. showers for the morning commute. clear and breezy in the afternoon, and we are looking at warmer weather thursday through saturday. temperatures have been nowhere near where they should be for this time of year. here is a case in point. take a look at some of the cities with tomorrow's high temperatures compared to average. santa rosa 62 degrees for your wednesday. average is 69. so 7° below normal. livermore is expected to come in 11° cooler than the average of 71. and you look at san jose and typically 70° tomorrow and it is only going to be 62. 8 degrees below average. we will finally warm back up, but not until the weekend. let me show you the satellite and the radar. here is the system

here is a look from sutro cam. it's clear out there. we will be looking at more typical weather for this time of year. was it warm yesterday. temperatures well above the average. still mild in oakland, 55. good morning mountain view, 54 for you. sea in san jose and 40s on the coast. so the cooling trend beginning today. much cooler at our coast with the onshore flow. showers arriving tomorrow night into thursday. that is when the snow is going to push in the northern sierra and cold air is going to stick around for quite a few days for the end of the week. here is the first in a series of weak systems headed our way. this one is just allowed the cooler air, few more clouds and beginning the changes for our week ahead. second system coming down from the gulf of alaska allowing for much colder air. this is going to bring moisture our way coming wednesday night into thursday. it will push on into the sierra nevada. you'll notice by wednesday afternoon, we're still dry, even dry in the overnight hours into thursday morning. here it comes. l
