this is sutro, and you can see it in mountain view as well as the upper 60s. mild and 66 degrees, and from santa cruz, it is mild as well, but you can see the haze. low the mid-60s for most of you from concord to livermore, and while you are getting the mixing from the northeasterly winds throughout the day, the smoke is going to pile up from san francisco on southward. some of you waking up to clearer conditions, and definitely warmer for all of the wind coming into play. as we are looking for the wind in the upper elevations, you can see it from 39 to 47 miles per hour in the north bay and not to be outdone, you can check out oakland hills, and looks like from 11:00, the winds will peak, and dial back in terms of the speed, but not directon. we will continue to see that overall northeasterly push of the wind, and that is going to bring more smoke into the bay area. the surface winds by the delta and gusting to the 28 miles per hour, and once again, the direction is all out of the north and northeast, and visibility right now is changing from four miles in ha

and here's a look at the view from san francisco from our sutro tower cam. that is a live view, unhealthy air quality at this point. the smoke advisory continues until 10:00 this evening. and we've seen moderate air quality for the south bay, as well. so as you head out, you may feel some irritation because of the smoke, and all of the particulate matter that comes from smoke, and so you should limit your time outside. also, turn the air conditioning on recirculate, especially if you have pets at home and you're gone for the day. if you feel irritated, you should wear a n- 95 mask rated for wild fire smoke. and also stay hydrated to wash toxins out of your system and bring the pets inside. the thickest smoke will be across the north bay and east bay. radar, satellite imagery all picking up on this wildfire, the campfire, that's just to the east of chico, once again. and you can see the smoke that's being pushed down i-5. and then right down into the bay area. so we are still going to see more smoke going not only through today, but the weekend, as well. and

this is how it looks outside over san francisco from sutro tower. let's look at our air quality an index. san francisco measuring on this air quality index the fine particulate matter levels. san francisco at 263, its highest ever hourly report. oakland and livermore all in the purple boxes reporting very unhealthful air quality. unhealthful in san jose, redwood city and santa rosa. our air quality forecast, today is a spare the air day. through tuesday, an the spare the air alert will be in effect along with an air quality advisory. we expect more air quality across the entire region, tomorrow, sunday, monday and tuesday. modest improvement from today's levels. here's our smoke forecast. the darker colors indicate the highest concentrations of smoke. over the next 24 to 48 hours, lighter colors indicating a little bit of improvement. we'll still have poor air quality but not quite so poor as today. join us on abc news at 4:00 p.m. for a full report and a continuing report on the fires on the smoke, air quality and, of course, our weather forecast.
