nonetheless, sutter health park is also home to the sacramento river cats. that is the giants aaa affiliate. the a's would play when the river cats are on the road but just a week ago, the president and coo of the river cats said that sutter health park is not built to be a major league baseball stadium . in the meantime, plans in vegas are moving forward. this week, the tropicana hotel and casino which is on the site where the new stadium will be built, it closed for good. it is slated for demolition in october but the new $1.5 billion stadium won't be ready until 2028 and that is why the a's have agreed to this three-year lease in sacramento with a four-year option if the vegas stadium is not finished in time. the cost of the deal has not been released but espn reports that it is about a $35 million difference from the three-year lease that oakland offered. in baseball terms, that is very little. it is just north of $11 million per year. to put that in perspective, giants reliever taylor rogers currently set to make $12 million a year over the next two sea

the venue, sutter health park. seats does it hold and will upgrades or improvements need to be made in order for these two teams to share this facility? >> yeah, 14,000 seats is a capacity right now. last week during the river cats media day, they just unveiled their brand new locker room. so the home side, the river cats, do have new locker rooms. the visitor's side will still need to be, of course, go under construction there today. they talked about new lights, new video boards, possible bleacher seating and seating out in the lawn. so out in the outfield. so there is going to be plenty of upgrades being made there. kind of shy to tell us exactly what those will be and when, but again, they did say for sure, upgrades are coming to sutter health park. >> michelle, beyond the ballpark, we've certainly seen west sacramento continue to build in that area to bring in new business. what about the economic boost this move could have for that area? >> oh man. businesses are ecstatic. they're already talking about their

fisher coming together to form a partnership for the next three years as the a's will play here in sutterealth park thanks to an "easy" negotiation that went fast and quick between both sides. the breakdown of the deal is the a's play here for three years with option for a fourth year no, details on the amount that will be paid. there is also no guarantees by the a's or the mlb that an expansion team will come here after the a's leave for vegas. commissioner rob manfred did tell vivek ranadive that the league wants to add two more teams on the east and west coast and this could be a great west coast location. the reason the a's picked sac was due to an already built-in a's fan base and a good fan base for baseball in the capital region as well as the personal relationship between fisher and vivek because as vivek put it, he wants sacramento sports fans to have an option every day of the year to go to a sporting event here in the capital city. >> when i bought the kings over ten years ago, i said that sacramento would never play second fiddle to any other city in the world. >> reporter: up
