suzanne clark will take over the nation's largest lobbying organization next month. s here. thanks for being here, suzanne so many topics to talk about the last four years for everyone, there are conflicts and, you know, different ways to think about things for business, versus conservative ideas, versus populist ideas versus the trump administration can you just describe priorities for the -- you know, your organization and how you navigated those. >> well, first of all, thanks so much for having me this morning. and, look, i think any organization, any business, any media outlet know we're successful if we stay in touch with our purpose and we know what we're doing at the end of the day, the chamber of commerce, we wake up every day and say what can we do to help job creators we know what a job does to the family and community, and staying true why we wake up every morning has helped us navigate, as you said, some pretty turbulent times >> just not to gloss over it, you made entreaties to the organization that made to the other side of the aisle, democrats made by p

want to go to suzanne clark, she's a big deal, the first time the u.s. cedent. ms. clark, very good to have you. congratulations. >> thank you so much. i appreciate it. neil: so what's on your agenda the? you've got a new administration in town, you've got, you know, an impeachment trial going on as we speak. the chamber's priorities have tended to be in the past on free trade and all of that. your predecessor, of course, you know, challenged the trump administration on that and some of these trade deals. what will be your focus? >> well, thanks for the opportunity. it's a great question, and i think it's really twofold. number one, the urgent work we have before us, right? we've got to get a pandemic relief bill done. we've got industries that have been punched in the stomach, we've got families that are hurting, schools that can't reopen. and so we would like to see a bipartisan compromise where they come together. there's a lot of agreement in the room, let's get this done, let's get it done fast. let's also then turn to infrastructure, immigration --

>> this is where it gets interesting and where suzanne clark has an opportunity to really offer a seatthe table and a negotiating tactic from the chamber perspective to really get the chamber of commerce back on track here because quite frankly, there are a lot of republicans in rural communities who are not going to want to spend anymore money especially after a 1.9 trillion dollar stimulus deal. when i look at this objectively as a reporter, that's where the movement is going to come for the republican party infrastructure because when you have four centrists democrats down in texas writing president biden and saying please stop with this green new deal stuff because we are getting pummeled with power outages and the coronavirus, that really is the exacerbated effort right now on the energy front that could take a lot of the political oxygen out of the room for democrats when post three to six weeks from now they want to stock -- talk infrastructure. tom: have the republicans lost the suburban vote or can they get back? kevin, i talked to strategist to argue that every time a party l

out i mentioned tom donahue, he will tep down with his role of the business clark replaced by suzanne clarkoing to become the first female to lead america's biggest business lobbying group in its 109 year history and she's taking over at this critical cross roads for the group. it's trying to navigate this world of complex and divided politics, businesses are trying to get back towards the middle, mend some fences with regard to some of the actions over the past few years. it's obviously very politically charged right now for everybody in d.c. so the virus, the lobbying groups, everything else playing out there and mika, you also mentioned again the virus front, the pharmacies that are going to be getting some of these vaccines, cvs and walgreen's the two biggest ones in the country, they'll get those supplies sometime very soon. those distribution efforts are continuing. they trying to get as many people vaccinated as possible. up until now, much of the efforts focussed on healthcare, senior facilities, hospitals that sort of thing, local health departments. so this development is helping
