in may 2020. >> suzanne morphew's husband reported his wife missing after she didn't return from a bike ride. not long after her bike was found not far from the couple's home. but morphew's location remained a mystery until yesterday, when police identified her body about 50 miles away. while investigators were on an unrelated case in may 2021, barry morphew was arrested and charged with first degree murder, pleading not guilty. he and the couple's daughter spoke to abc news earlier this year. >> did you have anything to do with the disappearance of your wife? >> no, absolutely not. it's very hurtful all to lose your reputation and your integrity. >> but before his trial, the charges were dropped. the move came after the judge barred prosecutors from calling most of their key witnesses a punishment for not turning over evidence in the defendant's favor. morphew then filed a $15 million lawsuit claiming he was unjustly targeted by law enforcement. >> $15 million is a huge number , but i don't think that in my mind that covers any of the damage. that's happened to barry and the girls. >>
