we are joined by paul sweeney and marty schenker. let's come back to the state of the union address. let's talk about the substance. there important issues here we will be watching for. the usmca, trade, drug prices, immigration. what is the president going to say to drive investors? >> it's interesting to me that he's promising some sort of news. there's talk about the new initiative on drug prices. what a lot of people who are watching the politics will look for is whether he uses the speech to declare an emergency to get his border wall, which would be extraordinarily divisive. which ishite house, pitching this as a unifying message, i don't see how these two are consistent. david: there's this divisive message -- people want quiet at the moment. >> the selloff we saw had a lot of components, one of which was the looming government shutdown. we all know the markets do not like uncertainty. the speech interjects even more uncertainty into the political realm. alix: we were talking about the optics, some of the democratic women wear

joining us is paul sweeney.n you say it like that, it doesn't sound so good, but disney has not had a terrible quarter by any stretch of the imagination. there are some long-term headwinds that the company is dealing with in terms of cord cutting, but the core businesses are in good shape. theme parks remain very strong, continues to churn out low double-digit operating growth every quarter. the film studio is a juggernaut year after year. the real question for the company is, they are beginning this pivot toward a streaming business model for a lot of their content, sports content with espn+, and their disney content. that would be a long-term pivot and will be a very expensive pivot. investors are trying to get a handle on that and what it means for earnings, the stock. vonnie: so far, streaming has not been point to any negatives, people are embracing it as the industry predicted. obviously, investors were to look at margins. will they give disney a pass it margins continue to get squeezed paul: costs are def
