the o cc is staffed by investigators who speak several languages including tagalog, cantonese, mandarin, spanish. our case in takes in 2012, 98 were english and 1 percent in american sign language. the types of allegations that were received by the occ in at this included unwarranted action. about a third of the allegations, conduct reflecting discredit. close to a third. neglect duties and 3rd percent racial and less than one percent. none of the unnecessary force allegations were sustained. 2069 allegations were made impact the 28 officers. of those 2069 allegations 57 percent were not sustained. 31 percent were proper conduct. 3 percent of the allegations were sustained, 4 percent unfounded, 3 percent no finding and 2 percent finding withdrawn. >> looking at sustained allegations by type, by far neglect of duty allegations were the largest percentage. 63 percent of the sustained allegations . unwarranted action 16 percent. conduct reflecting discredit, 29 percent, neglect of duty 26 percent, unnecessariary force 9 percent. the o cc avoided a backlog in 2012. it closed all but four of

certified; 91 cantonese speakers, 60 certified; 20 mandarin, 9 certified, 7 russian, 6 certified, 39 tagalog and 5 vietnamese. there is no lag time to getting information on any type of crime occurring. we do use landline with an interpreter is not available, that is the card. most of the language services, including interpretation, we had 1800 calls that required interpretation of language services, most of that was spanis, with about 1060, second was cantonese, with about 400 calls. sometimes, you may be underreported, it can be a lot higher if not put into the database. as required by the city ordinances, we completed with the lao city ordinances, with city immigration affairs, that was completed on the chief desk for review to be signed. we are making good headway. that is more to be done and i look forward to working with the commission and do more, thank you. >> i understand that there is a line item in the mayor's budget for 500,000 for language access, can you tell me how that was utilized? >> i can bring you a breakdown. most of it was for the pay an officer uses for bilingual pay,

these volunteers speak italian, hindu, french, mandarin, portuguese, spanish, tagalog and vietnamese. they are the ones that really help. a couple things i want to point out, the main changes here. when you walked in here you bumped into a bunch of brochures. the real experts are not the brochures but the staff and volunteers who share their information and passion. we put the brochures against the wall and brought the volunteers and staff to the middle. when the people came and they needed to understand what was the heart and soul of the city to meet the geniuses, they found in front and middle. that was an important change. we don't always have a dj out here. many times we have volunteers and staff. another feature we are proud of is technology. we have touch screens. we have sf made products, we'll have more in the future as we continue. we have these the wonderful maps back here. the one of san francisco and it's neighborhood and the one of california. it amazing how many volunteers want to get in front of this map and discuss what they remember about san francisco. we encourage y
