these volunteers speak italian, hindu, french, mandarin, portuguese, spanish, tagalog and vietnamese. they are the ones that really help. a couple things i want to point out, the main changes here. when you walked in here you bumped into a bunch of brochures. the real experts are not the brochures but the staff and volunteers who share their information and passion. we put the brochures against the wall and brought the volunteers and staff to the middle. when the people came and they needed to understand what was the heart and soul of the city to meet the geniuses, they found in front and middle. that was an important change. we don't always have a dj out here. many times we have volunteers and staff. another feature we are proud of is technology. we have touch screens. we have sf made products, we'll have more in the future as we continue. we have these the wonderful maps back here. the one of san francisco and it's neighborhood and the one of california. it amazing how many volunteers want to get in front of this map and discuss what they remember about san francisco. we encourage y

[applause] >> good morning, everyone, so great to have everyone here on this beautiful morning, my name is os and i am the council member of the city of san jose and the board chair of the bay area air quality management district and vice chair of the valley transportation agency and it is my pleasure to be here with you this morning. and as the chair person, the lead agency for this project, i would like to officially welcome you to the inauguration of the bay area bike share. this is the first public bike share program in california. and the first regional multicity bike share program of its kind in the nation. this exciting new transportation system offers an alternative to the bay area commuters that eliminates high, polluting vehicles. and in the bay area, transportation is the largest source of air pollution and a major contributor to green

the presentations of some of our collateral that's done in chinese, spanish, we have some russian tagalog, vietnamese. we're trying to cover our bases as far as multi-lingual cases go. without further ado, i'd like to bring up mr. hatchet to discuss the check out bag ordinance. >> good evening. again, this presentation is for restaurants. again, picture yourself as a restaurant ioner. i'm clark hatchet with the department of environment outreach team. i'm here to talk about the plastic bag ban and the new rules as of october 1st, 2013 as it applies to restaurants. here in san francisco we are a leader with innovative policies and programs in terms of the environment. we still have a few problems to solve in our city, and one big one is solving the problem of the pesky plastic bag. plastic bags clog our sewers, neighborhoods and parks. they clog up recycling machines causing us to clean up every year. [speaker not understood], we banned plastic bags in 2007 at all large supermarkets as well as pharmacies across the city. there was no charge for the paper or disposable plastic bags allowed
