but we had numerous thunderstorms developing from mammouth to south of lake tahoe. over 1700 lightning strike were reported. there was some hail and some rain accompanying that south lake tahoe saw isolated shower an hour or 2 ago. as we make plans for the weekend, about you are going to be seeing more of the thovrments temperatures rate now in the 50's for the north bay. also for san francisco. most of the rest of the bay area in the 60's apartment i don't care 71 rate now. coastal fog local inland mild to warm for the weekend. high clouds are heading in this weekend so the difference that you are going to see this weekend will be l sub tropical moisture moving our way. that's what setoff the thunderstorms in the sierra nevada and that continues to stream in. so really this has been the cut off today. sierra nevada seeing the thunderstorms developing and once again tomorrow afternoon and sunday afternoon we see the sierra storms firing off this weekend so keep this in mind from tahoe to yosemite to las vegas we see this happen again. but some of the moisture is act

heading to the shores of lake tahoe may not be possible.t's the snowy winter causing the lake to rise. shrinking the beaches. the most recent measurement has lake tahoe 5 feet above its natural rim. that's like a whole me. the level is still rising, may not peak until the end of the m. more than 61 feet of snow fell into the sierra this weekend, the second most on record. we took the kids to lake tahoe and the beach is very, very tight there. want to check in with christina loren. she has a look at the forecast. >> yeah, you know what, you don't have all that much beach to begin with. so you lose -- when you lose five feet of beach it's significant up there and they did say that it's not actually going to peak until later on this month. we've got to watch for more of that as we head throughout the coming days. let's look at what we can expect for today. you can see right now things are looking pretty good. we have on shore flow which has increased significantly by the system of low pressure. what's going to happen it's going to continue to

. >>> it's a rare convergence of summer and winter sports at lake tahoe. skiers are out on the slopes today. but some skiers say they also plan to do a little boating and biking while they are up in tahoe. one skier said it has been 16eers since she has been able to ski on the -- 16 years since sheilas been able to ski on the fourth. >>> a black bear was checking out the scene at al pine meadows today. the bear did not cause any problems. he just wondered off the slopes and into the forest. >>> well from a bear in the sierra to fog on the coast. inland it's still warm. it's still going to be hot but not as hot as yesterday. you can see some of that fog that was there until 7:00 in the morning morning. it has really dropped locations about 10-15 degrees. any thunderstorm activity in the sierra nevada is being pushed south and east. any time you get that fog coming in that does equal a big cooling pattern. we are seeing all of the cooler directions on the wind. that is a south wind up in the north bay. it won't make an impact on inland areas until probably t
