this is heavenly resort at lake tahoe.ll pretty much artificial snow at heavenly on the nevada side from top to bottom. they open up the first resorts to do so up across lake tahoe. when does that happen? officially tomorrow. if you head up there, you can enjoy the snow and of course the artificial kind. if you open it from top to bottom, you can't tell too much. not cold enough down here for snow-making weather, it's chilly but no 30s yet, 47 in napa and 51 in fairfield and 50 in hayward and also 50 in livermore. tonight we will find plenty of widespread 30s and isolated 20s. that will bring back more freezing fog potential in the north bay and also patchy frost throughout our east bay communities. throughout wednesday, gratd w l gradual sun in the forecast, and we need rainfall. we have a few showers in the forecast. the consistent problem not over the past week but four to five weeks have been the storms. they develop out here, but the storm track is stubborn. it takes them towards the north, and that's what we find wit

this is a photo taken along the west shore of lake tahoe.teorologist bill martin join us now to tell us how long these winds will last. >> the high winds are going to continue in the hills of the northeast bay overnight. not as strong as last night. we experienced the strong winds. but the advisory has been extended to tomorrow morning. gusts still possible 49 miles per hour there. the gusts gusting to 25 miles per hour. over here by tiburon we have gusts to 21. it's breezy but the winds are not howling as they were last night. everyone has a story about the winds last night. some areas like san francisco wasn't that windy. but you talk to the folks in san mateo and san jose and they'll say it was real windy. one of the windier nights i can remember consistently all night. not just in the hills but down at the sea level areas as well. dry weather pattern as we go through the bay area weekend and a little bit into next week. with the winds dying down. the fog is not coming back but we are looking at very cool overnight lows. tomorrow morning

we've seen some records in tahoe and reno, and in fact today that continues. we start out with the area of high pressure offshore, it continues to build. notice all the high clouds here. these are cirrus clouds and the next system will be deflected to the north due to high pressure building in. the cold front did bring the mist and drizzle, persistent at times in the morning hours and as it continues to singe to the south and east, it falls apart and allows for the skies to clear and the relative humidity to decrease out there. also the winds will be helping throughout the day today. statewide we are talking more 60s around the state. in fact, 70s in southern california, 74 los angeles. 55 in the southern sierra with tahoe coming in at 50. palm springs 78 degrees. so if you are headed out tonight early on we will have the clear skies. 40 in vallejo, 45al immediate dough with upper 40s san francisco. typically cool out there but back home numbers climbing. about two or three degrees up from yesterday readings. 66 in campbell. bright sunshine today and nice afte

in tahoe right now, 18 degrees. tahoe valley airport. nice and cold for making snow.today in the 40s's there. back home we are looking at a few high clouds. we have the fog. concord and fairfield and also travis reporting 32 degrees. so we are talking very cold conditions. temperatures will be warming up, but not quite as warm as yesterday. we saw highs 70 at the sonoma county airport. today not as warm. the down sloping winds will be backing off. take a look at these cold numbers. 32 in santa rosa. some fog there. 47 fremont. very chilly out there with numbers in the upper 40s, san francisco, 44 half moon bay. clear and cold with the frost this morning. a little bit of fog. sunny and mild today. temperatures for seasonable and we will look for a little bit of cooling come our way over the weekend, into monday. the ridge is staying put, so this will allow for the sunny, mild weather right on through next week. and, in fact, it looks like christmas will be dry too. beyond that, maybe a little bit of rain. here's the area of low pressure that brought some wet weather on

if you are headed to tahoe it is going to be unusually bare when it comes to snowfall. right now numbers starting to drop into the 50s. we'll have 40s here in no time. as these clear skies will aid in cooling. enough cooling that we'll have patchy frost for tomorrow morning. dry tuesday. plenty of sunshine and a bit of wind is going to improve air quality. high cloud cover passing throughout the bay area, going to continue toward the south. once again aid are aiding in clear skies across the state of california. the storm track is starting to push a little bit more to the south. but it's still not going to bring us any rainfall the next 48 hours. as high pressure offshore is going to start to retrograde a little bit. it will make room for this system here. all we're going to get from it is another reinforcing shot of cold air as we head throughout tuesday and also wednesday's forecast. still clear out here. 60s inland for tuesday. as we head throughout wednesday, on that first official day of winter, it's going to start off frosty with patchy frost for our interior sect
