they'll be discussing ways to protect this beautiful lake tahoe.g at not only the work they've done over the past 20 years, but what they can do in the future to protect the lake. as we've all heard, the water clarity at lake tahoe a key concern. back in the day, 100 years ago, you could zoo see more -- could see more than 100 feet down. now you can see 64 feet. nowadays it's more like 73 feet. they have seen improvement in the water clarity, but with the work they've done to keep run- off, air pollution down, they say it contributes to an unhealthy state. much more needs to be done. they need money. climate change is having an impact on the water's temperature. >> the biggest influence is that we had know that year, 5% of the rainfall, 5% of the precipitation came as snow. so we had rain run-off as posed to snow melt. it's a lot warmer and it floats across the surface carrying contaminants and that's what obscured our measurement of clarity. >> reporter: president obama is the 2nd president to attend this summit since it started. president clinton
