the first snow of the season fell in lake tahoe. this is video from kirkwoods' web cam and you can see the snow coming down, but not enough for skiing just quite yet. jeff ranieri, any snow is a promising sign. >> it's a sign the storm track is trying to get closer to eventually moving down to bring us a substantial storm here across the bay area. this activity was isolated, though, across this area. you can see it happened early this morning and most of that snow developing on the southern end of lake tahoe. totals not really that high at all. trace amounts to about 1 inch on some of the highest elevations. current radar picture does again still show a small shower near kirkwood. but that's just about it at this point. we'll really see things taper off through tonight. snow may also have you thinking about rain for the bay area. typically in san jose, for september, we average .23 of an inch of rainfall. at this point, it looks like we may not see that monthly average. all due to hotter weather. i'll have details in about 15 minute

tahoe is another popular labor day destination and look how gorgeous it is going to be in lake tahoeeekend. 73 degrees tomorrow with sunshine. a lot of folks going 50, 80, it's a parking lot right now. but tomorrow morning, there will be great weather. lows in the 40s, highs in the 60s and 70s in and around tahoe this weekend. south bay looking good. if you are just staying in san jose all weekend good for you. we have been been chilly. it's so strange to have it for five consecutive weeks since the end of july through the beginning of september. we have had version of an onshore flow from the chilly ocean. the past few years the ocean temperature has been 65 degrees which gives us a cool breeze but not as cool as it is this year, it is 55 degrees right now. it's like having a stronger air- conditioner. we have had it for weeks and with this low spinning over the pacific northwest, where it's pouring right now, we will continue to have that feed in from the ocean that's going to keep temperatures in check for your holiday weekend. go back to work, kids back to school on tuesday. the
