what i want you to look at on here is the 4th line down that says tahoe city. that's down at lake level. those are the communities in and around lake tahoe. two feet of snow around here. that is impressive. the fact that we got two feet there, it's a unique day right now in the tahoe basin. and a unique day here at home. we picked up an inch in livermore. look at san jose with a 10th of an inch of rain. those were the areas that were really under the gun in terms of direction this rain has been getting funneled into the south bay over the past 24 hours. not to say santa rosa didn't get rain, it did. and we got rain in the city. has this made a huge dent in bringing us up from our deficit? it's helped but we are still way behind. these are updated numbers as of right now and we're still only at about half of what we should have gotten for the season for san francisco, half for santa rosa. we're going to take high def doppler. there's our organized band, still coming into the south bay. we just watched this as well. it's going to stay this way over the next few h

but look at the projections up in tahoe. we're talking feet of snow.' to 5' after everything's said and done. just amazing amounts forecast here. if you're heading up today it will go downhill pun intended from there. south lake tahoe 32". there's going to be some in the higher elevations over 40. fog has returned to parts of the coast. that low, when there's nothing to kick it along all they do is kind of meander it. well they're meandering over l.a., phoenix, las vegas. that is a slow mover. that's the system we're focused on now and, eventually, that will bump that low and kick that low on. today, in advance of it, we'll start to see some cooling. the low clouds and fog will really start to get some help from that system just beginning to move into the picture. for the sierra, again, it's going to be tough going once we get to about saturday evening. that's about right. 40 maybe more than that. when the weather prediction center, the big boys and their heavy snow discussions start talking about it, you know it's a big deal. today 50s, 60s on the tem

you're seeing south lake tahoe between now and sunday night. we'll get some rain. you can see, though, it's more of a sierra event than it is rain for us. but the rain will pick up as we head into monday, tuesday, and wednesday and look at that over the mountains. this is going to be a huge event and i don't say that very often but this is. travel is discouraged by about saturday afternoon and evening. south lake tahoe looking for 32" of snow and some of the higher elevations you can probably double that. i did see a projection out for the next 16 days. our good buddy, the gfs over 100" of snow between now and the end of march. it's going to be really tough and even down to 3,000'. today we'll get some sun in. l.a., san diego, las vegas, even over to phoenix and flag staff. i'd say if you're going to phoenix for spring training but that doesn't apply anymore. no more spring training. maybe you already have plans. we will focus our attention on that system to the north, you guys. the big news will be it's cooling off. more on that system coming up in 10 minutes. >>>

so if you are sheltering in place in tahoe, keep that in mind.e a bit of snow midweek. our forecast for the by area diminishing showers over the next few hours and overnight. then we have another system moving our way. this is a very typical system. so it's going to bring us cold showers coming in from the northwest tuesday and wednesday temperatures will drop as well. and then we have a warming trend towards the end of the week. so here is a look at the forecast animation 7:00 tonight. we still could see showers in the san jose area in davenport. and then you notices that system slides south and inland, we'll be mostly dry tomorrow, monday. but we could see a few isolated spotty showers here and there during the day. maybe even parts of the north bay as well. you see some isolated showers there. temperatures will be on the cooler side. so rainfall estimates through tomorrow morning really not much for the north bay. so san francisco may be 0.01. mountain view maybe. .08. low 40s through parts of the north bay where we'll see some clearer skies o

the winter really delivered the last 36, 48 hours with 5 feet of snow in some places up around lake tahoethe winter storm warning stays in effect for the lake tahoe area through tomorrow, tomorrow afternoon more precisely and the snow keeps falling. it's a very productive storm for the mountains, just because of the way it's laying out. in terms of rain, not too bad for us either. you can see the showers in the last 48 hours, you can see mt. tamm coming in about an inch, not a lot more, maybe a half to three-quarters inch, but we have more rain coming this week which i think you'll appreciate. there are the current rain areas on radar, up in the mountains the winter storm warning. 80 was closed a time today. they'll be on and off all night up there. around here san jose, scattered showers, fairfield, hayward. these are showers occurring now and they'll basically hang out for a little bit longer and then as we go into the evening hours, they'll ramp up a little bit towards the morning again. so in the morning i think we'll see a little wet morning commute. as you go into monday morning, yo
