the way we look at it is tahoe is open.gate, we are not keeping people from coming here, but we have to do a better job of managing when people are here. we also have to recognize we don't have to advertise tahoe in the summer, plenty of people are coming. instead, the resort associations are focusing on messaging to those people when they are here, how they can treat tahoe with more respect, how they can take care of it when they are here. >> full transparency, i lipreading because apparently, everybody can hear you but me. i will say t items in the document. what are some other parts other than over tourism being addressed? >> it's about destination management, bidders -- visitor management. it's also about taking care of the local community. how can we take the revenue we generate and give it back to the local community in a way that people will appreciate? this summer will see a num back take -- of activities happening. take care tahoe ambassadors at local beaches and trails. they will be very welcoming, help people und

you know, people come to tahoe because it's so beautiful.this plan is hoping to do is introduce some new ways to better manage the people when they're here. and that's simple. things like more litter service , more public transportation, more public restrooms, better trailheads, ambassadors out of trailheads that are welcoming to help answer people's questions in addition to, you know, some long term thinking about how are we going to deal with affordable housing, how are we going to create a welcoming environment for locals, for the workforce? and really, we need to come up with a way and i think the plan is heading in that path where tourism directly benefits in a very clear way. the local community and the local environment, because we really need all three of those things. the tourism, the community and the environmental all work in balance together. yeah you need them all working and working in synergy. i mean, with that being said, obviously the influx of new residents to the tahoe area and all of those tourists, as you alluded to, has

>> we've had a lucky streak ni tahoe -- in tahoe. we have not had many encounters with bears.specially with injury. but the potential always exists. there's that immediate injury that could happen. the bears are large predators that are externally strong. but -- extremely strong. but if the encounter goes poorly, it could be the bear that ultimately pays the price. kristen: how so? >> if we have problem bears have become habituated with humans, that bear needs to be tagged, it could be moved out of the area or worse put down. kristen: nobody wants to see that or to see any human got hurt because a bear thinks that is trying to protect itself. what can we do? is it all about the food? if so, how should we store our food at a campsite or a condo like that? >> obviously do not feed bears. do not put food out specifically to bait bears to you to take pictures. we had an incident several years ago where folks were using a close encounter with a bear to update their instagram and facebook page. that is not appropriate behavior. we need to make sure that our vehicles are secure. bear

truckee, south lake tahoe. will be an increase in some thunderstorm activity for them. 5060s up and down the coast, 53, santa barbara, 53 crescent city and san romano. that's a little unusual for this time of year, but that's what we're seeing. the low we had on sunday, which dropped in, was dry, but it did produce a dry, cold front. and that's why we were so windy. sunday, monday, this one, even though it's weaker, is over water. and that's why we have an increase in the low clouds, high clouds and drizzle could be some pretty decent amounts on the san mateo coast up in the mountains. watch tahoe over the next six days. and also susanville truckee seeing a third of an inch, maybe upwards of two thirds to three quarters of an inch. now again, that's more isolated, but we saw that for about ten days and they had a break. now it's coming back. bigger fog, bank, drizzle, low, high clouds, cooler, windy, some sun if you're inland. but there's going to be a lot of cloud cover kind of dancing around 50, 6070s. this p

not the case in tahoe.ere was some pretty good boomer's there along 50, 80 blue canyon had 14/100 from thunderstorm activity in and around lake tahoe. much quieter today because temps are warming up. water temps are incredibly cold. again low 50s here. so, i mean it's when you get 80s 90s inland it won't take long to get that fog machine cranking up even thicker. but for the city i'm i'm hard pressed to warm them up too much when it's this cold already. plus they have fog plus they have drizzle and the water temps are really cold. higher elevations are warming up. i mean, ben lomond mountain is 70. that's a big jump for me. i think it's ten degrees warmer than yesterday. berkeley lab, those in the fog and only 50 mt. veeder at 68. so there are some warmer air aloft, no doubt. travis coming down. that's cut in half from yesterday. another sign that inland temps will begin to warm up. and most locations don't have much of a breeze, but there's a lot of fog, a lot of drizzle, coast and bay 50s on the temps. i

in fact, north of lake tahoe. for us, it's really just been some cloud cover is we've gone throughout the day today and we're starting to see some good clearing everywhere, except the north bay. they're still kind of dealing with a little bit of that. so temperatures we've got a lid on it in spots where? we've got the cloud cover like up in santa roads are at 63 degrees. just 60 out half moon bay. we've got some nice 70's out there in carlos mountain view as we head the east bay livermore and also in antioch. also a little breezy. we have this yesterday. we had this on monday. we're getting it again today. you can see there in fairfield that delta breeze about 23 miles per hour. 17 out at sfo. so that certainly makes things feel a little bit cooler, too. so just to show you futurecast, we stay dry. we get into tonight. i think we could see a little coastal drizzle out there. but this pattern of that low pressure hanging out just kind of keeps come turning these clouds our way. and it also leaves that monsoonal moi

so you could take a bird's eye view of tahoe keys. isn't that glorious ?ew clouds that are building above the mountain range there. otherwise i want to share with you our satellite imagery, because this is just beautiful. we have a lot of activity around the tahoe area as far as thunderstorm activity , but no rain today at all. but that's going to change. we first off, have a beautiful view of our coastline and the low clouds . the patchy fog has just wiped away from the seashore. but now we direct our attention towards the greater lake tahoe area and absolutely nothing going on right now. you saw the beautiful skyline there of the mountain range around the greater lake tahoe area on the south shore, 67 degrees on the south shore right now, but tomorrow there will be some thunderstorms popping at any point of the day, especially the late afternoon hours with the high of 69, a much warmer day in the offing on sunday with dry conditions through monday. right now, back at the ranch, 57 half moon bay, 66 across the bay in oakland and in alameda through piedmon

tahoe donner two thirds of an inch of rain.ckee had thunder yesterday at 1241 and there were some big boomers and some very impressive cloud tops over the mountains yesterday. you just don't see this kind of a pattern. usually in early june, the low is down towards santa barbara, but the moisture streaming around that, look at that. it's really starting to pick up here. so our best opportunity will be today about another low is on the way for it looks like saturday 5060s on the temps low clouds underneath, higher clouds coming in from land to sea. but the combination of all that's going to give us a cloudy, mostly cloudy day with some off and on rain, possible thundershowers and it looks like the next level will come in and take the exact same spot as this one we have here today. that'll be on saturday. the draw your attention, though, to the mountains. i mean, just some impressive amounts being forecast here. i've seen some isolated three inch amounts for the mountains. now, again, it's not widespread, but that's a lot of rain

it was just going bonkers yesterday up in tahoe, tahoe keys, big thunderstorm point six nine. for that information. south lake tahoe closed naught point six seven. donner lake, a half inch rain. even truckee had some measurable amounts. and reno also had a couple of reports there. 42/100. carson city over the weekend had a lot. i don't want to just mention those. there was a lot up in quincy and chester and then about redding north. there's big, big thunderstorms over the weekend, almost 30 miles an hour. out to travis, mainly 50. i mean, this time of year, usually, you know, you're seeing 52, 53 at the coast, 65 inland, it's 55 to 61. there's just not much of a difference here on all these temps due to the cloud cover. the high is to the west. it will nose in a little bit over the next couple of days trying to give us a little bit of a warm up here. moisture will stream in most of today. so today's the cloudy, mostly cloudy day with occasionally some light shower activity underneath that. we have some low clouds as well. this series of these lows just continue to march in the
