meanwhile, in the united states, from dallas to tallahassee to tallahassee, excuse me, right now, nearly 20 million people are under severe weather threat because of storms sweeping along the gulf coast. fires also remain a critical danger in texas, with more strong dry winds in the forecast, cnn meteorologist allison chinchar joins me now. so, i mean, what areas are most in danger by fires in texas here? >> right. so the fires are really going to be on the southern side and the western part of the state, and then the northern side and the eastern part of the state is where you have the severe weather. so really, pretty much no matter where you live, you've got some kind of threat going on. it's just going to be a little bit different. and all of it is thanks to this low pressure system that's basically sitting right here along the gulf coast. and as we mentioned, to the south and the west of that low, you've got the very gusty, strong winds, but you don't have the moisture to the east of it. you also have the gusty winds, but you have the potential for some strong to severe thunderstorm

and this is for everywhere from dallas stretching all the way over towards tallahassee, florida, as that low slowly meanders its way eastward. the main concern here is going to be damaging winds. also the potential for some large hail, but we can't rule out a tornado or two also being in the mix. and that's because we're now starting to see that time of year where tornadoes begin to ramp back up. march is when we start to see that big upswing before we peak in may, which is when we end up having the most tornadoes by, on average for any month of the year. here's a look at that system as a whole. as we go through the day saturday, it will continue to spread eastward. by sunday morning, you're looking at most of the really heavy rain focused over portions of southern alabama, southern georgia, and even portions of northern florida. but even by sunday afternoon, you get the heating of that day. more of these showers and thunderstorms are going to continue to fire up along the back half of the day. overall, most of these areas looking at low end precipitation likely one maybe as much as two

so essentially from dallas all the way over to tallahassee, this is where the main threat is going tofor severe thunderstorms. the main threat is actually going to be large hail. you're talking golf ball size, maybe even larger, but damaging winds, tornadoes. we can't really rule those threats out either. here's a look at the forecast radar. again. you can see it really ramps up as we go into the afternoon hours. you get the help from that heating of the day starting to really form a lot of those showers and thunderstorms across portions of texas, but also along the gulf coast and then omar for the rest of the day today and into tomorrow. you're just going to see that slide eastward across many of the gulf coast states. >> and you have the fact that texas is a big state. you got two completely opposite things going on, depending on where you are allison chinchar really appreciate it. thank you. still to come, president trump again threatening canada with tariffs this time over dairy and lumber. plus a lawyer appointed to review the eric adams prosecution says the case against the new

forecast and severe storms along the gulf coast have nearly 20 million people across dallas to tallahassee being threatened. cnn meteorologist allison chinchar is with me now. so, allison, look, fire conditions don't seem to be letting up this weekend in texas. what are we seeing? >> right. so you're still going to have that threat for today? it's shifted a little bit farther south and a little bit farther east, but it's still there. and then east of that you have the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. and we're already seeing some of those thunderstorms begin. it's all due to this low pressure system right down here, sitting along the gulf coast. to the west of it you have those gusty winds, but no moisture to go along with it. to the east side you have the gusty winds, and then you also have the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. so here's a look at where the fire threat is going to be for today. this does include cities like san antonio del rio, several areas through here. due to those incredibly low humidities, 10 to 20% and the very gusty winds that could be up a
