i'm tamala edwards. time to talk about the polls.goodness, talk about a whipping horse right now. so, just about everyone except the l.a. times got it wrong. but many of them would say, "we showed a really close -- 42-to-45, 46-to-44 at the last closing bell." and with a 2- to 3-point percentage of error, it could have gone either way. were the pollsters really wrong, or did the rest of us forget percentage of error? >> first of all, national polls don't matter. >> yeah. >> 'cause we don't elect presidents on a national poll. we elect presidents in 50 separate elections. so, the fact that the l.a. times had it right, kudos to them, but you had to look at -- look, terry madonna's been a very accurate pollster. and i don't remember, but i think the last poll he had in pennsylvania was hillary up 8%. >> and pat toomey losing by 12%. >> yeah, more than that, it was. yes. investor's business daily also had it right. they also had it right in the romney-obama election. the polls i was looking at, interestingly enough, for southeastern penn

. >> reporter: good morning, tam l i want to -- tamala. i want to show you the home.hen police arrived around 4:45 to what they say was a one alarm fire they did see a woman on the second floor that was trying to escape. they were able to put a ladder up there and then rescue that woman. they do believe that the fire did happen in the second floor bedroom and that is where she was trying to escape. after they rescued her they brought her down. she then went next door to a neighbor and just about 15 minutes ago paramedics did arrive and they transported her over to the hospital just for precautionary measures for maybe a little bit of smoke inhalation i'm told but otherwise she was okay. they tell us there was only one person in the home at the time, the 63-year-old woman who they did rescue and they say that there were no other structures on this block, even though they're very close together, the row homes here, that were affected so at this point they say that this is under control. they did have a heavy response because they heard that there was a rescue needed but

good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tamala. those two officers were taken to the hospital. that suspect put up a fight with his mouth biting both officers on their hands and on their arms. well, take a look at this video. this is from the scene. the attack started just after 1:30 in the morning. two 24th district police officers were on routine patrol on atlantic street. that's when they saw the suspect trying the break into a car. now, when police went to stop him, that's when the violent struggle began. >>> they say that the suspect tried to flee and punched, kicked, headbutted and then bit the officers multiple times breaking their skin on their hands and their arms and drawing blood. >> this particular 32-year-old suspect who was arrested is well known to the police in the area for not only selling drugs but also doing drugs, so we want to make sure that now that this individual bit and broke the skin of both of these officers that the officers don't get any type of infections because of the human bite which can be very, ve

. >> reporter: good morning, tamala. a lot of people waiting to see what will happen next if there is any progress. i can tell you according to a septa spokesperson i just talked to within the past 45 minutes there were no new negotiations overnight. now, shortly after midnight, the president of the local 234 transit workers union did say that they're opened to negotiating throughout the morning. septa also said they are ready and willing to go back to the table as well. well, take a look at this video. this is video, something you're going to see a lot across the city of striking workers at bustleton and benner. now more than 4700 local twu members stopped work on the job at 12:01. septa suggested the union work through the negotiations and past their maryland midnight deadline to avert a strike. the president of local 234 willy brown said thread to draw a line in the sand after two years of negotiations. brown said they did agree on a few minor things. driver fatigue still an issue so he is healthcare but the main stic
