the fbi telling us that they executed a search warrant, were executing a search warrant, at tamerlan tsarnaev's apartment as you indicated where he lived with his wife and his child. sources have previously told us that bomb residue was found there. the search was conducted because of the fbi's interview with the younger brother dzhokhar who told investigators that in fact the bombs were built there and they originally had planned to carry out an attack on the fourth of july. we don't know what, if anything, they took away from the home today. the fbi is not commenting on any of that. also today, fred, i can tell you that cnn has done an in-depth interview with exclusive details in an interview with the father of one of the exchange students, one of two, who is accused of hiding evidence from the bomb case. evidence that belonged to the suspect dzhokhar. now, these two young men say they didn't try to do anything or hide anything on purpose but the father who interviewed his son in jail told us that in talking with the son about what happened, he said that his son denied that he had

tamerlan was a boxer, the guy killed today did mixed martial arts. law enforcement sources say the man they killed in florida was not a suspect in the boston bombings, but was a suspect in this other unsolved boston area triple murder that everybody has been wondering since the bombings whether or not it was connected to the bombing suspects. we reported about this on this show before, but before now, we have never been able to say that there was anything more than a coincidental link between these two stories, and now it appears that there was a real link. this happened in 2011, specifically on 9/11 that year, so september 11, 2011, it was a brutal murder in the quiet boston suburb of waltham, three men were killed by having their throat slit, one had a previous conviction of intent to sell marijuana. when the three bodies were found in waltham, their bodies were found strewn with marijuana, somebody had thrown marijuana all over them. sot lots of drugs were left on the scene, and almost $5,000 in cash was left on the scene, and these three big, fit

they may have had contacts with tamerlan went to dagestan. a lot of it was probably inspiration from this "inspire" magazine and figures like al awlaki. this was difficult intelligence for the community to deal with. if someone is really self-radicalized. they don't use a lot of marks. if they are willing to use low tech means and die in the process they can hurt a lot of people and very difficult to discover. obviously we are very interested in finding out what the source of the radicalization is. one other thing i would mention is, it will be interesting to see what kind of cooperation the wife is giving. i know the attorney says she is cooperating but she has to look at what happened with the arrest of these three for obstruction of justice. and my guess is everything is going through the attorneys in terms of what she is willing to share with authorities. >> there were reports as well communication with tamerlan right after the bombing attack. perhaps by email as well as by phone. i want to get to where this goes now. the investigation co

obviously tamerlan tsarnaev is another.you testified before this hearing, what is the main message you hope to convey? >> well, i've just been asked to testify, jake, so i want to know what the committee and house twoont hear. i am honored to be called to testify. the main message is we're a lot safer than we were on 9/11 because of all that we've done since then. the kind of attack that occurred in -- at the boston marathon is the kind a lot of us had nightmares about. we stopped a lot of terrorist attacks with tremendous help from the fbi, from the department of homeland security, from the cia. this one got through. and we just have to go back and in a very undefensive way figure out what went wrong. what could have been done to prevent this and make sure that this kind of attack never happens again. but i think the important thing is say particularly on a day when these three additional suspects have been arrested that this continues to be not a cold investigation but very hot investigation. anybody who made a conclusion

and now they're looking more closely at tamerlan tsarnaev's widow. what do we know about her. >> well, we know that the fbi has been wanting to talk to her for, you know, face-to-face for several days here since the bombings or since they identified tamerlan and dzhokhar. so they have been wanting and trying to negotiate with her lawyers to a, get more time to talk to her. and also to get some dna samples. as we reported yesterday, the fbi found some female dna on remnants of the bomb and so they want to know whether, you know, basically cross hafer the list if that's the case, that she had nothing to do with it. she basically has said, you know, that she had nothing, she was completely shocked about the events. and i think what they want to know is, you know, the key period between the bombings on monday april 15th and frid, what was going on then. where was tamerlan. they know a lot more about dzhokhar because he was at a dorm. and he was in college. and he's in and out. and there's more recordings of what he was doing. tamerlan is a little bit mor
