the daughter refers to two and a half-year-old girl, the daughter of tamerlan tsarnaev and katy. uated high school six years ago and the attorney said she was raised christian and converted to islam after she met tamerlan and she is fairly observant. she does wear a head scarf and we have seen her in videos wearing that head scarf. she has moved from the apartment right here to her parents' home in rhode island where she is staying and where her attorney says she is cooperating with the authorities. >> chris lawrence there and katherine russell's lawyer she learned about her husband through news reports. >>> a separate investigation to tell you about, authorities in canada say they have foiled a terror plot and arrested two suspects. the men were planning to attack a passenger train traveling between the u.s. and can ka. >> reporter: after months of surveillance two suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit a terrorist act involving passenger trains in canada. but it had a link to al qaeda from iran, something that we have not heard before in connection with terrorist cells.

the victim said he pulled off to the curb tamerlan in the passenger seat, dzhokhar tsarnaev was followingr vehicle. it was hard to drive at first. >> early on in the drive, danny was obviously quite nervous and driving somewhat erratically because of his nerves. and tamerlan says, "oh, relax, calm, drive slowly." >> reporter: they drove from brighton to watertown to cambridge, about 90 minutes in all. we retraced the route. at one point, professor fox says the two vehicles pulled over. the brothers got out, unloaded objects from the vehicle into the trunk. what does he think it is? >> he thinks it's luggage. danny didn't want to look back. >> reporter: they ditched dzhokhar tsarnaev's car, they all three were in the vehicle. >> they realized, boy, he may not live to see another day. >> reporter: the victim was driving, dzhokhar tsarnaev in back. they stopped and withdrew money with danny's car. danny heard them speaking in their native language, could only make out the word "manhattan" in english, but that's not all. in the car, the three are talking like normal guys, satellite. >> exactl

what happened, nic, how is this possibly linked to tamerlan tsarnaev? >> one of the things that tamerlan tsarnaev did when he left russia was posteo o a rebel commander. now, it is one of his lieutenants, if you will, who was killed in that overnight raid by russian special forces here. there is no concrete proof that tamerlan met this sub commander who was killed in the operation. but it is an indication of the ongoing battle of the russian security forces here are having with the rebels in the mountains. only the day before 20 more rebels killed in another special forces operation. it's all part of a background of what's happening here, but does this have a specific link to tamerlan? we don't know that at this stage. but it does show that the people that he was idolizing and posting on his social networking sites, the people he was idolizing are the people in the crosshairs of russian special forces right now, wolf. >> nic, as you know, the russian authorities recently turned over to the u.s. a transcript of what they say was a wiretapped conversation

that militant group has possible ties to alleged boston bomber tamerlan tsarnaev. meantime the fbi is joining forces with russian security officials to piece together tamerlan's every move during a six-month visit to russia. and even though they believe the brothers were self-radicalized watching online videos, they are still looking into the possibility that other people maybe in russia, perhaps in the u.s., may have been influences. among the people investigators are looking at, the mother, and tamerlan's wife katherine russell, who converted to islam when she married him back in 2010. the bombing suspect's father has now postponed his trip to the united states. he told russian state media that he's in a hospital because of what he calls a blood pressure spike. of course, today marks two weeks since the day of the boston marathon. two weeks since the terror attack. and two dozen people are still in the hospital recovering. bombing suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev is now at a medical facility for federal prisoners. he's locked up in a tiny cell west of boston. our pamela

and what did russia know about the older brother, tamerlan tsarnaev, an aspiring boxer? asked the fbi to look into his activities even before tsarnaev spent six months in russia last year. >> did he sit in his aunt and uncle's home for six months? or was he doing something else? and when he came back to this country, why didn't it ring a bell with the fbi intelligence unit that he should be checked out? and vetted again. >> reporter: the russians asked the u.s. to check out tamerlan because, quote, his lifestyle had changed. after coming home from russia, his youtube channel carried radical videos, as well as names of militant leaders. as for his younger brother, the wounded dzhokhar tsarnaev, controversy in washington over what to do with him. >> he will not be treated as an enemy combatant. we will prosecute this terrorist through our civilian system of justice. >> i strongly disagree with the obama administration's decision to rule out enemy combatant status for this suspect. >> reporter: and the question of whether the fbi dropped the ball in 2011 when it looked at ta

tamerlan tsarnaev, alleged bomber one, is walking in front. hokhar tsarnaev, now the defendant, is behind. the two suspects are seen standing about a half block away from a restaurant camera. a minute later, bomber one, tamerlan, walks out of the crowd headed towards the finish line, a knapsack, quote, still on his back. at 2:45, alleged bomber two dzhokhar moves towards the finish line. he has the thumb of his right hand hooked over the strap of the knapsack and a cell phone in his left hand. he stops by a metal barrier. he's apparently, their word, slipping his knapsack on to the ground. a photo from across the street shows it at his feet. he stands there for four minutes looking at his cell phone, appearing to take a picture, then the government alleges a deadly final 30 seconds. just before the first explosion, dzhokhar tsarnaev lifts the phone to his ear as if speaking on it. for 18 seconds he keeps the phone to his ear. then, just as he appears to finish his call, the crowd reacts to the first explosion. quote, virtually every head turns

officials about tamerlan tsarnaev twice warning them about possible radicalization. unger brother dzhokar tsarnaev questioning by the f.b.i. was cut short where a federal judge read him his miranda rights possibly sacrificing valuable intelligence. i'm joined by dan hinninger and matt kominski this is first really big attack since 9/11. all credit do to our ain't terror brigades. with a stands out to you about this event? >> two things really. one that the f.b.i. and c.i.a. had him on their radar screens. they had him in 2011 in march. f.b.i. went to see him, question him and went through his thing, when he went to the russia confirming he had been radicalized for six months, the f.b.i. and c.i.a. didn't know he had left but the homeland security did know and didn't know he came back six months later. someone now at boston airport did know. >> paul: so there was know sharing, that was supposed to be one of big lessons of 9/11. you share information so people know who these people are. is that how bureaucracies behave? >> they are bureaucracies, they are big complicate

tamerlan tsarnaev had a video of him on his youtube channel.e're not sure if the two men met face-to-face during his visit in russia. we're following the developments from the capital of dagestan. >> this abu dujan and a video tamerlan posted on his youtube file. they killed him last september and we don't know if he ever met tsarnaev. pakistani police revealed to cnn this small time militant ran training camps for bomb making that foreigners came to. three images of abu dujan's group training in the woods. this one explains how to mix and prepare homemade explosives almost anywhere. and the group's pictures suggest they learned to use a mobile phone addss a detonator. the militant trained foreigners. >> translator: we do not have audio or visual confirmation but we do have information concerning that abu dujan met with foreigners. >> what do foreigners learn in the woods? >> translator: i can't talk about the number of foreigners but they met to exchange their experience. there are dagestani's who have taken citizenship elsewhere to come here

none of this means that tamerlan tsarnaev met abu. why was he posting that video from a town where his father lived where he visited in 2012? something investigators may be looking at with regard to what history there may have been with extremism from that alleged bomber. >> reporter: so, nick, let's talk about his time in russia. what do you know about that? >> reporter: a limited amount. there is a window between 2002, 2006 when he could have been here or coming and going from the united states and kaziksta in. . we know from talking to a shop keeper that i have wills opposite his father, that he went to stay with his father for a month. we don't know what he was doing really for the rest of the time while he was there. he has relatives in chechnya, many other things that could possibly have happened. that surely must be what investigators are looking at given some of the suggestions of radicalization that krcrept in the past few years. >> reporter: at this point, with he don't know why these two brothers decided to carry out this b

one between tamerlan tsarnaev and this canadian boxer, who was a muslim convert. he fled his home in 2012 to fight against russian authorities. then he died in a shootout, but a very similar parallel story to tamerlan, who was also a boxer, who had come over here to america and then went back to dagestan and we know what happened after that. but similar parallels and at the same time, the russian authorities say, a connection of possible meetings between tamerlan and this quite infamous dagestani jihadist, mahmoud nadal. what do you read into these two connections that may have been established? >> i think those are both very significant and the problem is right now we're dependent on russian intelligence authorities for these stories right now. what the russians, what we know now is that some, possibly some meetings happened in russia. everyone looking at this case knew -- knows now that those six or seven months are significant to figuring out does this case lead to a sort of radicalization and training by tamerlan when he's there, he brings that information back
