jack smith and tammi peters smith. they are the phoenix, arizona, couple that pinned their hopes and dreams, attached their heart to this little baby, baby gabriel, in the hopes that they were going to get to call him their baby boy. that they were going to adopt baby gabriel. they had been on the string with this woman, elizabeth johnson, age 23, for some time. jack and tammi, thank you for being with us. first to you, jack smith -- >> hi, nancy, how are you? >> i'm very disturbed. i'm disturbed about why -- why didn't she just go ahead and give you the baby? why give the baby to some people she had just met at some public park, for pete's sake? jack smith, what do you think? >> well, you know, again, we don't know what's in her mind. and i would love to think i know what's in her mind, but i don't. if i did, baby gabriel would be us, and back here in arizona. the reason she didn't give him to us is the father was saying he wasn't going to do that. this was the first time we'd had a chance to be with the father -- to

joining us now live in an exclusive interview this morning is jack and tammi smith. good morning to you both. >> good morning, jenna. >> so earlier this week, police named you and your husband persons of interest in this case and you voluntarily underwent a polygraph test. can you tell us how that went and if you received the results yet? >> we haven't received the results yet. pretty much it's never like coming out of the room with a graded paper. but it is going to come out exactly like we knew it was going to come out and that's what they told us basically to say. that it don't lie and it is what it is. so we're -- we know the truth and so soon everybody will know the truth. >> jack, i want to mention you voluntarily, again, you voluntarily went in for this polygraph test. you were not asked to. can you tell us why you decided to do that? >> well, because again, our focus here is to find this baby. let's get beyond this. let's -- you know, if -- being persons of interest from our perspective, we were the last people to see the baby before it left arizona. so why w

their names are jack and tammy smith.cops that they met elizabeth johnson at a long airport layover. they befriended her. she told them she wanted to have her baby adopted. they said they were interested in adopting that baby said they have no idea about the whereabouts of the baby. the cops announcing they believe they know person and are declaring them persons of interest. they said they were completely innocent in all this. listen to jack smith. >> we should have been persons of interest from day one. we are persons of interest. we were probably the last people to see gabriel before he left town. we're thinking. i would hope every stone that they have would be turned over and tried to do anything that they can. >> and, shep, we just got off the phone with tammy smith herself. she asked us to call back in a couple hours. show she told us a couple of rambling stories. she said i have to go, police are about to give me a polygraph. we haven't confirmed that with police. tammy smith is telling us she is taking a polygraph,
