i'm tamron hall. this is "newsnation."olympics blade runner oscar pistorius in prison after a judge sentenced him to five years for killing his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. pistorius showed little emotion as the judge sentenced the olympics star capping off the high profile eight-month trial. his attorney said pistorius is expected to serve just ten months behind bars with the rest under house arrest. nbc joining me now from south africa. let's first get to the reaction. i know, that the prosecution can potentially appeal this. but eight months behind bars. i think some people are pretty upset about that. >> that's right, tamron. there are many people who are upset about that. oscar pistorius left the courthouse a few hours ago. he was driven in a police vehicle and anti-riot vehicle to a prison a few miles away from here on the outskirts. following a one hour hearing which the judge explained why she had reached the sentence of five years of which oscar miss or its you might only have to serve a few months before returning
