chris tanaka has more on what >> chris: there is school tomorrow and it does not mean they are walking out of the classroom tomorrow morning. august 15th, the teacher's union authorized a strike. that meant if a deal wasn't reached at 6:00 p.m. the teachers were set to walk out. just two weeks later after a mary raw thong 21-hour negotiation session both sides came to a tentative hours. tonight the teachers rejected the proposal by just 102 votes. now the union and school board are headed back to the bargaining table. the teacher's union releasing a statement, quote, it what is a close vote, but enough of our members clearly do not believe the tentative agreement fix the broken promises that occurred over the last three years. testing for our students and evaluations must be significantly more fair, close quote. another statement that says the district remains committed to bargaining a con track that meets these goals and members can support. close quote. some of the complaints from teachers who rejected the proposal, not getting better teaching materials and no guarantee that there wo

chris tanaka is at the alert desk getting answers on these breaking news stories. chris? >> chris: denise, big talkers when they say whether voters can approve the minimum wage raise to $12. cleveland has been pushing for a higher minimum wage for some time now. every year until the wage hits $15 an hour. that would be in 2021. some blasted the idea saying not only would it hurt small businesses, but it would send most companies to the suburbs. the rest of ohio will stay at the current minimum wage. that's $8.10 an hour. earlier this year the attorney general said individual cities cannot set their own minimum wage. he points to the section of the ohio constitution that required workers to live in the city. also council introduced legislation that would not let anyone sell medical marijuana in the city for two years. this would give cleveland lawmakers time to look and create laws regarding the growing, processing and sale of the drug. using medical marijuana would introduced a similar one-year freeze on marijuana sales and processing. denise? >> denise: thanks, chris. mo
