i would like to thank supervisor tang for the support of our store. and just a word about rolling out bakery. we've been in the district for about a year-and-a-half now. it's a very rough journey. at the particular location i'm in there have been several failed businesses in the last few years. one of the reason is due to the lack of traffic. what separates rolling occupant so far from previous businesses is number one, our special pastry. specifically we'll put in one cup of love and one cup of creativity in everything we bake from sweet potato cinnamon rolls to chili egg tarts. and number two, we strive to be a part of our local community with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. and we try to know our customers by name, welcome them with a smile and a friendly atmosphere. and so far we've been well supported by the local community for which i'm very grateful and indebted to. we use a wall in our store to showcase the art of local artists, specifically /kheurpbl from age 5 to 12. these artists are all from the young artist school across the street from

i don't know if you remember but supervisor tang interned for you in college. she has a masters degree from columbia university. she began her tv career as a reporter in honolulu and joined in 84 and then for cnn in atlanta. she served for 19 years. i'm going to embarrass her with some of her journalism awards. she received 9 emmy's. an excellence awards for consumer action, 3 awards from radio and television news from the directors association, the press and television association, american psychiatric association and national association for children and alcoholics and a national award for best feature. with the asian pacific fund which i think is relevant for today's honor is a founder to establish and proof the well being of all asians in the district area and provide service and awarding grants to more than 90 asian organizations. the communities honor from prenatal programs and the chair from the ucsf san francisco and broadcast award committee. emerald's accomplishment professionally are incredible. it's been so amazing just to get to know you as someone

my name is dee anna keson, representing the office of supervisor katy tang. we are introducing an ordinance brought before the board last year for implementation of pedestrian level lighting for small businesses. last year the impetus for this ordinance was real toy help support our small businesses in making a small but tangible change to the vibrancy of corridors. we found that a lot of small business owners didn't know that when they had to replace an awning that was already existing on their store fronts that they had to go through a permit process and pay a fee. so, we thought that this would be a great way to really recognize small business month and allow them to make those changes to their store fronts without that fee in place. one of the things we really wanted to do is to make sure that since this is city-wide ordinance, that we let a lot of people know that this will be in place for may. and, so, we've been really trying to create an education and outreach strategy. in front of you you have a packet, a draft packet of informational materials that
