tara moriarty inside the hall of justice. first new information about the woman found dead and her two- year-old girl still missing. what's new today? >> i spoke with sfpd. unfortunately, not much. they say there are more facts to the case, but they are not releasing the details because investigators are following up on some leads. they are going to see where they can get. if not, they may come forward to the public with more information. obviously, they are trying to track down the daughter of nicole fitts. her name is ariana fitts. she is two years old. she has also been missing since april 1 when nicole was last season. police aren't saying how nicole died. ariana was last seen in february, weeks before her mother, and this little girl is considered at risk because she is so young and because her mother was a homicide victim. so right now not a lot of things that are making sense in this case. once police have a better handle on things and able to release some more information, hopefully we will sort of understand and be a

ktvu fox 2's tara moriarty is in the san francisco bureau at the hall of justice.ara, you're hearing that police are pursuing new leads in the case? >> reporter: that's right. they are zeroing in on one family in particular. she is a pastor whom i spoke with exclusively yesterday. she denies any involvement in the murder of 32-year-old nicole fitts and the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter air yawn. briggs said she took the two into her home for two years off and on. the last time she saw the mother and child was in late november. nicole's friends said briggs' knees or a relative had been babysitting oriana in oakland and she was refusing to let her see her daughter in the weeks up to her death. the police are focusing their efforts on that family. the big concern is for the safety of little ariana. >> you talked to a lot of people. this sounds like a complicated case. explain how so. >> reporter: well, you know, the briggs family is a very large family. since police are zeroing in on them and interviewing a lot of people, there is a lot of ground to cover.
