live at oakland international airport, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. >>> stay with ktvu for continuing coverage of the workers strike. coming up at 7:30, we will go back live to the port of oakland with a look at how picket lines are disrupting truckers this morning. >>> 7:02. just a week after an aging pipe flooded a neighborhood in daly city. two more bay area cities are dealing right now with water main breaks. alex savidge is live in pittsburg right now. they have a five-foot sinkhole causing a big mess out there. what's going on, alex? >> reporter: well, a worker on scene tells me there are a number of homes without water, all of them on this block. this is 11th street between york and cutter. you can see a lot of work going on here. these are works trying to repair this six-inch water line that burst overnight creating this huge sinkhole here in the middle of the roadway. overnight, water was rushing down the street for about an hour and a half. a neighbor told me it was about a foot deep. crews were able to finally shut the water off around 1:00 this mor

ktvu's tara moriarty is out there along interstate 880 now. we know the roads open again but how are things now tara. >> reporter: the good news is it's not raining anymore. at 2:00 in the morning it was coming down and that was creating treacherous driving conditions at the mission boulevard exit and officials say that played a role in this crash. traffic is back to normal. the traffic was backed up, though, at 2:00 this morning. the chp says that it appears a person driving a white sedan had a spin out and slammed into the median. then the driver of a silver suv smashed entolase dan. dan-- into the sedan. the driver o. sedan was found outside his car but we're not sure if he was ejected or tried to get out of the car after the crash. he suffered a massive head injury and is reportedly in critical condition. the chp issued a sig alert and had most of the lanes closed down for abouts to -- about two hours and they ran traffic breaks and you want to take your time anywhere you're going throughout the bay area because the roadways are still slic

ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is out there in daly city with what crews are doing to keep thiside from collapsing for the second time this week. >> reporter: it took the city 36 hours to dig a channel to keep the impending rain out of this area. we haven't noticed too many folks out and about this morning. ever since the water main broke tuesday, we have noticed neighbors walking around really watching that hillside closely. now the big priority right now is to make sure that the rain does not make the mud slide worse. originally the city said 45,000 gallons of water gushed from that ruptured pipe. now they it's more like 90,000. they have set up bails of hay. they have laid netting. and the disaster left dozens of cars trapped in the mud and buried in the street. as city officials cleared the storm drains to prepare for this weekend. >> we'll have crews assigned to make sure this structure we constructed is functioning the way it was designed to. >> reporter: today the street is clear but hillside park is still buried in four feet of mud. the goal is to keep from more mud slip

ktvu's tara moriarty is live with a look at the damage and information on how the crash happened. >> reporter: well, good morning. if you take a look at the parking lot across -- across the street, you can see there's damage. instead of hitting the brake on the vehicle, the teenager mistakenly hit the gas pedal, lurched across the street and slammed into the fabric shop. witnesses say this happened at 12th avenue and 12th street. neighbors who live upstairs say they heard the crash, the truck hit a water line as well. so crews had to turn off the water supply and they were forced to cut off the power because there were -- because there were electrical boxes. firefighters rolled the truck out of the storefront and no word on what caused the accident. but from what the driver was saying. he just -- the gas for the brake. officials say it does not appear that alcohol or drugs played a role. luckily, nobody was hurt. coming up wile hear from the neighbor who said she could not -- we'll hear from the neighbor who said she could not sleep last night and has no idea when her power will be r

ktvu tara moriarty joins us now in san francisco with details of the attack that happened inside a muni station. tara. >> reporter: well, a top muni official called it unconsciousable. beating up a muni agent who was merely trying to do his job. it happened right behind us here at the corn ore of market and vaness avenues. it was taken october 10th at 7:40 at night. you can see a man with a bicycle and he has just ignored an agents request. jumped over the pay gates and walking toward the train platform. the muni agent chases after him and says no bikes allowed. he turns around and kicks and punches the agent. the agent is 55 years old and suffered serious injuries and not been able to return to work. this all happened again at 7:40 at night and the suspect last seen here at the corn ore of vaness and market. that suspect is described as a white man between 25 and 30 years old. about six feet tall and 180 pounds. it looks like he has some sort of a moe hawk hair style. police hope by releasing this video someone will recognize him and come forward. >>> our time now 5:31. it may be six m

ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is live at the embassy suites. this is a pretty big hazmat response that affected a lot of people. tara? >> reporter: that's right. this is very close to the airport. the hotel was booked. a lot of people had flights so you can imagine that they were nervous about making them on time. behind me you can see a lot of windows are still open at the top of the hotel right there. these people got a 1:30 a.m. wakeup call that they did not expect. they were stuck out in the cold for for hours. that's because firefighters responded to a call here after midnight. crews called in hazmat, did some air sampling. and within an hour, they evacuated the building. hundreds of guests were staying here, again, the hotel booked. and the trace was a faulty boiler. >> they did an air sampling and found there was a high level of carbon monoxide. so at that point be they called in additional resources, including san mateo county hazardous materials team and the health department to determine what was going on here. >> this is the first ti
