tara narula, who is a ocrdiologist, joins us now. so glad you're here.tor, this is being called a blockbuster trial. what's so significant? >> this is a big study, norah, in the world of cardiology. basically it helps inform us about how to care for patients with stable angina, chest pains ozused by a blocked coronary artery with a positive stress test. he study divided patients into two group, one group that got medical therapy and lifestyle changes like statins and blood pressure medicines. the other group had a invasive procedure like a stent or bypass surgery. and what they found was there was really no difference in terms of heart attack or death between these two groups some the stent and bypass surgery group may actually not be associated with longer life or survival, however, the group that was tsvas collarrized and got stents or bypass had a better quality of life and reduced symptom, so they may feel better. this study only followed patients for about four years, so we need more follow-up. >> o'donnell: all right, doctor. thank you so much. and
