day the tea party movement dies. politico did some polling after the rally we showed you in washington on thursday. a couple of interesting views of what tea partiers at this particular rally believe. 75% scared about the direction of the country. 73% want to send a message to both parties. look at this in terms of views of president obama himself, 76% agree that barack obama is pursuing a socialist agenda. what's the impact? >> i don't think a lot of people in the hispanic community to be specific, think barack obama is a socialist. i do tell you there's a lot of anger and rejection as to what washington has been doing. i think this feeling that we see throughout the country is the exact same feeling i'm sensing in my community. they are sick and tired of government taking them for granted. politicians owe their jobs to our votes and they've gotten them and now it's time for them to say, this is what we're doing for you, not for us, not for the big corporations, and not for government. >> i should say that that poll

who makes up the tea party? 18% of americans identify themselves as tea party supporters.hey do in terms of education? when you walk into a crowd, you'll be finding only 3% don't have high school degrees. 33% have gone to some college. and 14% have post graduate degrees. >> this flies in face of sort of perception that the mainstream media has put out there about people who belong to the tea party. maybe the perception is they're not as highly educated as the elite people in our society. >> and then they focus on who they are, what makes them up instead of what they really stand for which is less taxes, smaller government, stop spending, tax us less. >> let's see how successful they are. according to a study, how much do you make? well 11% make between $75,000 and $100,000. more than 120%, between $50,000 and 75,000. that's where the majority is. 25% over there and 17% of the tea partiers are in that range. so that's what makes up the audiences and the crowds, for example, that sarah palin dressed yesterday. >> it was a huge rally in boston. let's do a couple of other head

the tea party becomes like a tea pot that holds all of this anger that has been swirling around. it becomes the repository for all. and people who want to write it off as something less than serious risk losing touch with that energy, with that boiling energy that exist right now in the american body politic. host: a number of polls have been cited that suggest the state of the public. last thursday there was one in of a " usa today." in this poll last week, which is a gallup poll, 65% think members of congress do not recall -- do not deserve reelection and those who support their own member is now below 50%. and 28% say they support the anti-government tea party movement. for the first time, both major parties are viewed unfavorably by most americans. the tea party has a favorable rating, almost as much as they do. guest: it is incredible because there is a sense that, especially among tea party people, that there ought -- they are under assault. the poll that i cited in the "wall street journal" showed that 30% have a favorable view and 25% had an unfavorable view of the tea pa

we define our success with the tea parties 5200 people at each tea party.tea parties with approximately 30,000 people in attendance. you guys made that happen. next monday march 2nd i believe it was the website with life and for six weeks we planned for tea parties across this country and one year ago today we had over 850t parties with approximately 1.2 million people in attendance. the [cheering] and then in september we had the biggest tea party of all at our house, the u.s. capitol with approximately 1.7 million people in attendance.
