. >> there's infighting on the trump legal team itself. two lawyers are trying to distance themselves from a third attorney. we get more now from cnn's jeremy diamond. >> reporter: just over a week after president trump named attorney sydney powell to his legal team, the president's legal team says that sydney powell is not a member of his legal team. rudy giuliani and jenna ellis, two of the attorneys for the president's effort saying in a statement quote sydney powell is practicing law on her own. she is not a member of the legal team. she is not a lawyer for the president in his personal capacity. now this notion that she never was a member of the legal team is absurd, not only did the president name sidney powell in a tweet, but a few days ago she appeared right alongside rudy giuliani and jenna ellis at republican national committee headquarters to talk about their legal effort. giuliani, in fact, saying he was in charge of the investigation alongside sidney, referring to sidney powell. she has been trafficking conspiracy theories abou

team? >> a lot of people say this is a pivot for the trump team. ay one what the trump team learned by studying what happened in 2000 was there is not a lot of time to get this done if you go through the courts. in a recount it was one state. here you have 5 or 6. from day one the plan has always been to eventually get into and start lobbying state legislatures controlled by your head majority republican party in it and we are starting to see that. it begins tomorrow. the show starts tomorrow. the theory is if you can get one of them it is a domino effect, get michigan to flip which is a tall order but the strategy all along has been to get to the legislatures -- it gets tricky but per the constitution each state legislature could conceivably take the right to vote back from the people and cast their state's elect oral vote. mike: that is something to watch. on the legal fight, professor jonathan turley. >> i'm sympathetic to the argument that it takes time to get affidavits and evidence. on that part they are perfectly valid saying they are moving

what about your thoughts about the challenges of the trump team launching? at mcdaniel the chair person of the rnc will have a press conference today. we just found out in the last half-hour, in nevada the trump team has been granted the right to present its petition at 5 p.m. today. >> well, some of the things the trump team is demanding include more transparency, being able to before the process of vote counting which is a no brainer, but something that did not change the trajectory of the race. what the trump campaign has not done is compile a systematic list of either corruption or irregularities that could change the race in a number of places that would matter in the final tally. you pointed out early and you're absolutely right about the florida recount in the year 2000. it was all in florida. one state was the whole ballgame. the entire political world depended on florida to fight it out. now you have georgia, maybe north carolina, pennsylvania, nevada, maybe arizona. you have all of these places, any of which could put joe biden over the top of winni

team trademark, what is happening there? factor seems to be a shakeup within president trump's legal team and to be honest the statement we justot his more questions than answers at this point. the trump campaign says former federal prosecutors sidney powell is no longer associated with the president legal efforts, even though as you can see, standing there right behind rudy giuliani at a news conference last week. in that news conference she alleged that a foreign plot tied to communist countries conspired against president trump campaign and that is among many other accusations she is made in recent days in the media interviews. now the campaign, there she is speaking with giuliani that news comes on thursday, now the campaign is ready to keep its distance writing in a news statement about 30 minutes ago that quote, sidney powell is practicing law on her own and not a number of the trump legal team but also not a lawyer for the president and his personal capacity. we have not heard from powell yet but this is certainly going to be getting attention and no reaction from the president either on twitter and they've already call
