now, at issue here is a strike being put on by the teamsters local 856. about 137 employees walking off the job. that's about 35% of the city's workforce. they've been without a contract since june 30th. been in negotiations with the city since april. the reason for this particular one-day strike, the union is filing for unfair labor practice against the city of concord. the union accuses the city of allowing a non-union supervisor, someone who is not a teamster, allowing them to train a member of their union. they say that's not appropriate. it's an unfair labor practice. in response, the city said training is a shared responsibility that should be shared among all workers regardless of union affiliation, and the city says the union is by passing any informal resolution process. in other words, they wish the union would come to them so they could sort this out instead of going on this one-day strike. the union will rally at the civic center and starting around 8:30 this morning. it's just a one-day strike. the city has said that they do have a mediation
