we were never counted as a high—tech city. ty is quiet, one of the safest cities in the world, so i believe i leave the city in a very positive momentum. i received it and it was not very positive, to say the least. i believe in every practical parameter you check out, is the city doing well, it is common practice that the city is doing very well. well, that is, i may say, a very positive spin, but this city is also one of the most divided in the world. and if one looks at it from the point of view of its arab citizens, it is a city which is consistently failing its people. well, i totally disagree with you. the reality is, that if you look at our arab population injerusalem, they are doing far better than anywhere in the region, than syria, sumaria, gaza, the arab residents ofjerusalem are part of the city. they have the same quality of health services, they are part of the job and the economy, their education system is doing much better, so in any practical parameter the arab residents ofjerusalem are doing far, far better th

we're a tech city. we're firmly in the 21st century. and is that appropriate? at first, i was resistive to it. and i've really, actually, come a long way in my own thinking that this -- that this could fit in quite well. i don't think it's, you know -- and, actually, the fact that it is different and it is sculptural and it is kind of a stand-alone object makes it better relative to the historic fabric of the city. every time i travel to europe, when we see historical building and setting and new, modern building in it, there's no efforts in places like barcelona or paris to necessarily, you know, kind of try to relate. but for the most part, you have a modern building in a setting that might be historic. i think it makes sense, because it enhances both. you see both, as opposed to one disappearing or one being imitative, which i don't think is appropriate. so, you know, i think this has come a long way. and i think that is -- that is an appropriate response. it's brilliant, the design, relative to the parts, the kit of parts. i mean, i had a professor 30 some

all the high-tech people move into the city, we had demographic changes, people want to live in cities and it's much more attractive, and on top of it, a planner, an article in the dennis's corner when i do my commission comments, we don't do a great job seeing the future. and planner in the m.t.a. that said holy crap, we missed the whole ride hailing revolution. we did not realize 50,000 more cars on the street because we had a plan, 20-year plan and our plan was the way we viewed the world now without somebody telling us what the trends are saying. so, i can we need to add future here and figure this out, and also contingency plans in the strategy. so, when you bring the strategy next year, let's not have it be stillborn. let's make sure that if this happens, this is what we want to do. if this happens, this is what we want to do. we seem to always be chasing our tail and reacting, and just because we are such a big organization, the city, and we touch every resident. so, naturally that's what happens. a couple of things, i mentioned a while ago i read in the los angeles times, winne
