i'm ted greenburg. the breaking news, a toddler is shot and killed in delaware county. let's get to drew smith who's live from the scene in chester township. drew, what do we know right now? >> reporter: one of the township leaders just came over and briefed us on this, telling us the sad news that a toddler, possibly as young as 2 or 3 years old was shot and killed. the early indications that it may have been an accidental shooting. it happened right here in this home at the corner of bethel road. police first responding around 4:00 to reports of a child with a gunshot wound. we were here as detectives arrived and roped off this home. going inside. we saw them coming out about bags of evidence. unclear whether they took the gun out of the home. we were also here as the young child's body was carried out of the house. they didn't even transport the child. the child had died here on the scene. the investigation in its very early stages right now. it's unclear if there was foul play. though we were told that the family members of that young child were down at the chester

ted cruz speaking with the president earlier today. they had a meeting around noon. it lasted about an hour and coming out of that meeting, he expressed optimism. you heard him say right there that he wasn't supportive but he wants to get to yes, he believes he can get to yes. he of course has been one of the more conservative voices expressing concerns about this not repealing obamacare enough. and so that is part of the dance as mitch mcconnell works to get the majority vote or at least 50 votes in order to pass this with just republicans. i want to bring in our david chalain now and get your take here, david, on what we have witnessed over the last hour, some of the sound that we've been hearing. it seems like the conservatives and those conservative holdouts tend to be a little bit more optimistic than some of the more moderate republicans who have had concerns like susan collins. >> right, listening to ted cruz there, you have to ask at the end of what he said there, okay, how do you do that? how does mitch mcconnell now change the bill to indeed lower premiums

donald trump never filed any of the lawsuits against ted cruz.hat was his busy february of not suing peemg. people. in march, he got busy not suing the republican national committee. he threatened to sue the republican party over him not getting enough delegates out of louisiana. he did not actually sue them. in april, the associated press ran an article about a business catastrophe that was a trump branded condo project in the nation of panama. a.p. published their panama article about him. he said he would sue for that article. he did not sue the a.p. for that article. later that month, reporter david k. johnston, you remember him, he got those two pages of trump's federal tax returns a couple of months ago, david k. johnston was working on a piece about donald trump last spring. he talked to donald trump in reporting about that piece. donald trump said he would sue him for his reporting. he did not sue david confident johnston. the month after that in may, he said he would sue the "washington post" again for a different article. he did not sue

ted cruz, in particular, i think has a couple really good ideas for some reform and hopefully adopt aem and get them onboard. >> let me ask you, jason. the president said it was mean and a son of a you know what. i think he wanted this to be a less harsh bill than came from the house. so it sounds like ted cruz and others are wanting it a much more stringent bill so how can they do this and get the moderates -- they're going to lose moderates if they do that. >> excellent question. the two aren't mutually exclusive of each other. for example, the senate legislation, what it does is have a slower phaseout period of obamacare, obviously appeals to the moderates. it also shifts up the tax credit structure so it goes based on income and not on age, which, again, that appeals to more of the moderates. with conservatives, it slows down the rate of inflation with medicaid, so it's -- it increases medicaid inflation, not medical inflation plus one. but also, here's where i say they're not mutually exclusive of each other, what ted cruz is suggesting is we actually go and do some things that w
