ted cruz is sitting there at 40% in texas right now. you see to start to add the factors together and democrats say midterm climate not popular and the president not a very popular incumbent and maybe there is a formula and then they are looking at the enthusiasm gap, which party had more voters casting ballots. we knew republicans would cast more and the question is what would the gap be like. so there is two ways to read this. if you are a democrat, look more than a million ballots were cast statewide in this democratic prime. up significantly from '14 and '10. for democrats that is encouraging and tells you things weren't that good in '14 and '10 and for republicans, that number there, over 1.5 million republican ballots, that is a record. breaking their own record there in texas for turnout. so if democrats have some energy, republicans aren't rolling over. if you are a democrat -- that hasn't been done if a generation and you need every advantage you can find. so a mixed set of signals in texas. >> so i guess one has to take ted cr
