fox5's teisha lewis joins us live from police headquarters in northwest with more on the story. >>reporter: sarah, this family watched this police body camera video today and they insist that their loved one did not have a knife. now, that is despite and contrary to what police say. now, this is all the aftermath of that christmas day shooting. it happened on walnut street in northeast. we spoke with family tonight. we're talking about 29 year old gerald hall. geraldy von hall is what friends and family called him. he would have turned 30 on friday. they were initially called to this northeast neighborhood for a when they arrived hall was armed with a knife. they say he ignored officers verbal commands. and then one officer discharged the service weapon striking hall. his weapon was recovered on the scene. people we spoke with tonight shows a different picture. none of that video shows him waiving the knife. they told the girl move out of the way pow pow pow, that was it. my cousin was killed unjustly by a d.c. police officer. we want justice for j von. > that was his mother and
