can you tell us about your experience? >> there were a lot of anticipation about how people would respond. at first, we had to get in front of people to direct them from their habits. early morning, they are more into carrying their coffee and going inside of the elevator and then spilling their coffee to hit the keys. we got right in front of them, stopped them and told them exactly what they had to do. that helped out a lot. the other thing that helped were the lights in the lobby would tell them where the elevator was. a lot of these systems have not done that. we were the first to do that. the nice thing is we've got less spills in the lobby, too. you get into the elevator in the morning, and somebody is standing in front of the buttons and you cannot get to it. people are fighting each other, spilling coffee and stuff, so this works out well. once you get inside, you are going to the floor that you have already decided on the outside. it really helped traffic flow and security as well. >> would you say your experience

once again, tell us what did that look like, sound like, tell us what you saw. >> yeah, scott, i was standing on boyle stoj street and i looked to my left and the first explosion went off. and we thought it was kind of a celebratory noise it was a huge, loud sound. but suddenly the air was filled with smoke. and you could sense that something was gone wrong because everyone was running. i actually ran to my right and tripped on the ground because there were people going in all directions. and we actually ran towards where the second bomb went off. and we saw that go off. and tried to go in the other way, away from boylston street. and that's what everyone was doing. but as we were standing there and running, people were visually hurt there was blood on the ground. policeman were carrying children who had fallen. and the whole scene was really depressing to watch. >> pelley: this is videotape that you are watching that was shot about an hour ago of many of the victims being taken away from the scene of two explosions that struck near the finish line of the boston marathon. many people

what can you tell us right now? >> well, i think we can assure the public that congress is monitoring the situation. we're working with state and local partners to make sure we get all the evidence and i think the system worked. our responders were there. police, fire, health personnel. what we're now doing is collecting the evidence to try to get to the bottom of what really happened. >> is there any doubt in your mind at this point that this was likely an act of terror? >> well, i think before we tie it to an act of terror, it was a bad deed. whether it's a lone wolf, international terrorist related organization or what, we have to find the individuals involved. and then we can let the information we receive call what it is. so, our state, federal, local individuals doing their job. let's make sure we catch the perpetrator or perpetrators who did this dastardly deed and let the facts drive us to an assumption or the facts. >> now, we know law enforcement said they weren't hearing any chatter on the usual channels

pete, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, the obvious question is, is all of this violence tonight related to the bombings in boston and the fact that several hours ago, the fbi released pictures of individuals they were eager to talk to, they believed were involved in monday's bombing. several things to keep clear here, number one, we're told by authorities that what is unfolding tonight in boston did not start with the fbi trying to arrest someone. that is not what started this. but there are at least three reasons to think that what's happening here is related to the boston bombings. number one, we knew that the fbi was interested in the names of some people who live in this area. so it's not -- this is not an unrelated thing or something related to boston merely by geography. there was interest that the fbi had in that area. that's number one. number two, we've heard the names of two people who have been arrested tonight. we're not confirming them, but one of them we know was a name that the fbi had rec

can you tell us about that? >> yeah, right now the winds are out of the south gusting at about 30 to 35 miles an hour. it's a very windy night here. a major cold front is moving into the state. ahead of that severe thunderstorms in oklahoma and northwest texas. those are expected to reach the north texas area sometime between 5:00 and 9:00 a.m. central time tomorrow. that is the concern here on the ground is to try to go block by block, house by house to try to see if there are any more survivors here in the rubble and get them out before the storms come through and make it almost impossible to search for them. >> you're there in west, you live in texas. can you tell us a little bit about this community? it's been reported a five-mile radius has been affected in some way. can you tell us about that in perspective to that community. would that be the majority of this area? >> it would be. this is a very small town, a couple of thousand people at most. it's a farming community, hence the fertilizer plant here in t

expecting to see the president at the white house at about 10 minutes after 6:00 eastern time to tell us a little bit more about the federal response and what the president may have been told up to this point in time. if you are just joining us, there has been a terrorist attack in boston at the boston marathon. two bombs were placed in the crowds designed to wreak maximum death and maiming of innocent people. we have a number of videotapes of the explosion because, of course, this is a very heavily covered event that's the second bomb you see about two blocks down from the first explosion. they blew up with 15 seconds apart. let's-- this is a still photograph of the second bomb exploding. and you get a sense of where both of these devices were placed. they were in the crowd on both sides of the street, thousands of people were cheering the runners on. you see the runners there in the middle of the street. they're running toward the finish line. they're 26 miles into this. and so thousands of people, both sides of the street, cheering the runners on, when the explosions occurred. this is

chris, what can you tell us about the investigation? >> reporter: good morning. we're following several leads in regards to this investigation. first of all, the area around boston's copley plaza has been shut off. it's considered an active crime scene and police are busy combing that area for any clues they can find about yesterday's blast. you mentioned this search warrant. it was executed by local police starting around 5:00 yesterday evening. police spent more than seven hours at an apartment complex nearby. police were seen taking out what was believed to be evidence bags to a car. they were also seen questioning a couple of people in that apartment complex but did not appear police left with anybody in custody. we've also been told that police spent some time questioning a person who was injured in one of the blasts at a nearby hospital. we were told that they were speaking with this gentleman as a possible suspect, a person of interest but later police said that that person was need ear suspect nor a person of interest. so several leads in this case that a

. >> tell us where investors should be picking their stocks. i know you can't give us specific names, but give us guideposts of where to put our money for the next couple of months. >> the places that are interesting are the places that are the opposite of perceived safety. dividend yield is perceived to be safe. what's not so safe is things that have a lot of growth and can be exciting or a lot of value because they can be very cheap. so let me give you an example of each. in the value domain right now we think there are lots of opportunities from stocks that were really hit hard because of 2008. so for example, the residential real estate market was the source of the problem in 2008 really and the companies that were most involved with it were hammered over the last few years. now, some of the stocks in that domain including some of the lenders who financed real estate, some of the title search companies, some of the home builders have pretty attractive outlooks for -- as a stock to own, because they've become so chea >>orgive me, seth, i thou

tell us where you are and what you are seeing. >> i'm in watertown. i don't want to give you too much about the location because the police have asked us not to give too much out about the efforts. somewhere in watertown behind me here we believe there is a standoff going on. police believe they have cornered one of the suspects, the guy in the white hat. this is where things came to a head if you call it that last night. early this morning when police gave chase and they cornered the two suspects. the black hat and the white hat suspects and encountered a shootout. in that, the suspect in the black hat was shot dead. his brother with the white hat managed to flee the scene and he is believed to be somewhere in watertown ever since. just in case the city of boston put down a lockdown for pretty much everybody. asked everyone in the suburbs and in boston itself to stay inside. this is not just for the safety of the people inside, but they don't want to get the suspects lost in a crowd. things have been quiet here for the last hour. they did start to he
