can you tell us about your experience? >> there were a lot of anticipation about how people would respond. at first, we had to get in front of people to direct them from their habits. early morning, they are more into carrying their coffee and going inside of the elevator and then spilling their coffee to hit the keys. we got right in front of them, stopped them and told them exactly what they had to do. that helped out a lot. the other thing that helped were the lights in the lobby would tell them where the elevator was. a lot of these systems have not done that. we were the first to do that. the nice thing is we've got less spills in the lobby, too. you get into the elevator in the morning, and somebody is standing in front of the buttons and you cannot get to it. people are fighting each other, spilling coffee and stuff, so this works out well. once you get inside, you are going to the floor that you have already decided on the outside. it really helped traffic flow and security as well. >> would you say your experience

it does tell us that the taggers are moving around from one neighborhood to the next, telling us how we should be managing or programs or which neighborhoods we should be looking at. this is a graphic analysis of the neighborhoods. i don't have a pointer, i'll get my head out of the way. downtown was one of our key problem areas that we started out with but we're seeing a steady decline in the downtown core. so basically we have been focusing a lot of our programming in the downtown area. we had a huge decrease in the gardineau neighborhood in the second year but something has happened in that neighborhood to pop it back up. so it's allowing us to look neighborhood by neighborhood to look at the community enforcement officers woork they are doing there so next year when we go to do a hire, our bylaw officers are working with revitalization, i'll be sharing this information with them to say these are the key neighborhoods you need to be in touch with as well as the different constables and beat officers to say, look, this is a problem and this is what's trending in your neighborhood.

tell us where you are and what you are seeing. >> i'm in watertown. i don't want to give you too much about the location because the police have asked us not to give too much out about the efforts. somewhere in watertown behind me here we believe there is a standoff going on. police believe they have cornered one of the suspects, the guy in the white hat. this is where things came to a head if you call it that last night. early this morning when police gave chase and they cornered the two suspects. the black hat and the white hat suspects and encountered a shootout. in that, the suspect in the black hat was shot dead. his brother with the white hat managed to flee the scene and he is believed to be somewhere in watertown ever since. just in case the city of boston put down a lockdown for pretty much everybody. asked everyone in the suburbs and in boston itself to stay inside. this is not just for the safety of the people inside, but they don't want to get the suspects lost in a crowd. things have been quiet here for the last hour. they did start to he
