also with me is mark tepper. thanks for joining. >> thanks for having me.we are looking at a rally so far. we are looking at money moving to tech, we've got some economists predicting big tech will remain the source of profit growth. what's your take on 2024 and how you want to allocate capital after the huge move in tech last year? >> so listen, i don't think tech is going away. let's put that on the table. it is not going away. it's only becoming more sophisticated, almost on a daily basis. so i think tech is still a place that you have to be. doesn't mean you have to chase it. it means it does have to have a place in your portfolio and quite honestly i think it's going to have a decent size position based on who you are are, where you are in the life cycle and all that stuff but i think you have to have it there. look, we saw on a taiwan semi last week the positive news, the upgrade in apple, the positive news there. friday morning you had smci come out and he blow the doors off. they took that stock up $100 in one tick on friday which just screams that

also with me, mark tepper. ryan, good morning. futures are actually higher this morning, finely.hird day of trading for the month and for the year. dow up 64, nasdaq a little negative by 11 points, s&p is up. the 10 year treasury yield, we're still below 4%, 3.961 and the minutes came out yesterday from the december meeting from the fed. so basically the fed, ryan, is saying okay, interest rate hikes are over. sure. but they really didn't give us any clear guidance on when rate cuts are going to start t the market is looking for something in march, in may, they're looking for six cuts, ryan. where are we? are we somewhere in the middle in all of this? >> i think so. probably. the market, the forecasts have been so wrong the last couple years, as relates to the fed policy, so if you believe them we would already have been cutting rates in september. that didn't happen. the market got a little over ahead of itself at the end of the year and the first couple days of trading this year are some profit taking just kind of resetting, maybe rebalancing in portfolios. i think we're lookin

also with me mark tepper and mike lee this morning. thanks for joining the conversation.arkets and get your take on 2024, check futures, dow industrials down 31, nasdaq up 56, we're headed into inflation data today and tomorrow and then the fourth quarter earnings season. major banks kick off tomorrow, we'll hear from jp morgan, bank of america, citigroup, wells fargo, before the opening bell. what are you expecting? >> overall, they revised earnings lower over the last few months within the big banks. i want to see a few things from the big banks. i want to see net interest income. i want to see how these higher rates are affecting banks and more importantly, the consumer. without the consumer, you don't have banks. and also too, i want to see if they're going to raise dividends, any type of buybacks. as a money manager we want to look at the bottom line for investing. for the big banks overall, i think earnings should be fine. but i want to see with this macro monetary policy how will that affect the big banks going forward. maria: i mean, look, this week i spoke with j

joining me now is chief global strategist, quincy krosby and mark tepper with us all morning.uincy. thank you for joining the conversation. >> thank you so much. maria: i want to kick things off with you with a look after futures ahead of the fed meeting, ahead of major earnings coming out. take a look at where we stand, the dow industrials down 18, the nasdaq up 45 and s&p this morning up 3 and-a-half. after the s&p 500 rallied to record highs for the first time in two years on the back of the strength in tech sector. we've got a major week of technology earnings on deck, we'll hear if alphabet and microsoft tomorrow, amazon and apple and meta all after reporting after the bell on thursday. these are the magnificent seven, right? what are you expecting? yeah, i mean, look, this is going to be a show me week, maria. i think investors have to look at the big, huge tech companies that are scheduled to report this week and say we need to see something positive because when you look at the earnings season overall, earnings growth right now in the aggregate level ising in testify 1

so the possibility is out there for some of them to be more juice tepper. for the most part, it's going to be light showers. we are under that flood watch in the north bay until 10 o'clock tonight. also a coastal flood advisory for areas right around the bay side. and then we also have this, which is a flood warning for the areas in and around that russian river area. guerneville grayton keeping an eye on those as they continue to take on some water from runoff. that happens even though the rain has slacked off of it. so some issues there. that is until 4 o'clock today. we'll see if they were knew that. meanwhile, out at sfo, you can see some of those low clouds that are certainly there so far, not impacting any issues with flights. temperatures about 55 in san francisco, upper 50's low 60's elsewhere around the bay. so as we go through our evening tonight, we do still have those unsettled conditions. but notice that's about 5 o'clock. we're going to move into later this evening. starts to lighten up in turn into just clouds as we get into our later evening
