how many of you have ever read any of studs terkel's books? great. as you know, use this wonderful old radio journalist who started doing books and interviews with people. and the one that i read first first division street. and soon after that his book, working, interviews people about their jobs. at some point over the decades i remembered linking, i wish he would do a book of interviews with teachers. i was a teacher, my mother was a teacher. and i thought it would make a great book. in some time a few years back i read in the paper that he was in failing health and obviously would do no more books. and he's since passed away. and so at some point, i can't remember the moment, i thought what if i were to try to do one myself? as a student i am a journalist. and so, i thought she, maybe i'll give it a try. i'll do a few simple interviews and see how they work and see if i find it interesting. and so i did. and i didn't just find it interesting. i found it fascinating. i was so compiled a talking with people about what it was like for them to be tea

and i want to thank the good teeple at jaindl's terkel farms in pennsylvania who donated these turkeys dears in the road. now this of course is what truly meant by thanksgiving, a holotype they've asked us to be thankful for what we have come and generous to those who have less. it's a time to spend with the ones we love and a chance to show compassion and concern to people we've never met. it's a tradition that has brought us together as a community since before we were a nation, when the ground we are standing on was nothing but wilderness. back in the simple act of survival was often the greatest blessing of all. and later, president lincoln declared the first national day of thanksgiving in the midst of the civil war. or in the depths of the great depression, global businesses gave donations and charities open their doors to families who didn't have a place to celebrate escaping. in times of war, our military has gone through great lengths to get our men and women on the frontlines a turkey dinner and a taste of home. so in america, we come together when times are hard. we don't gi
