terrell, what is the situation on the ground now? >> well, betty, the situation right now, the big issue, is that it's dark. utility crews that would normally be out cleaning up many of those downed trees that are blocking roadways are gone for the night. they'll be back later on in the morning. and then, of course, there are power lines that are down. power lines that not even our crews here can see. there's one stretching across the sidewalk here. another one that's in the roadway, that's nearly invisible right now. even as bad as the situation is here, if you were to travel about 60 miles away, it's even worse, in a place called tuscaloosa. tuscaloosa, alabama, looks like it's been hit by a bomb. homes and buildings were reduced to rubble after a massive tornado touched down wednesday evening. from this closer view you can see debris flying around the tornado as it moves through the city. leaving behind a long path of damage. >> we have hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed. and hundreds more damaged. >> reporter: the powerfu

terrell brown reports. >> reporter: ilana angel knows a lot about online dating. she writes a blog about it. but even she has had some bad experiences. angel recently connected with a man on a popular website. after days of talking online, decided to meet him at a restaurant. she immediately started feeling uncomfortable. >> we were there for maybe 30 seconds and he said that he didn't like it. and that he knew someplace better. we should go somewhere else. and we could leave my car and go in his. >> reporter: angel decided to end the date right away. the internet has become a popular way to meet romantic partners. some of those meetings have turned violent. in february, police arrested wade ridley in las vegas. authorities say he admitted stabbing a woman he met just ten days earlier through an online dating website. and in 2009, jeffrey marcellus was sentenced to life in prison after sexually assaulting women he met online. because of cases like these some states are working on legislation that would force dating websites to make changes to keep users safe. conn

terrell brown is there this morning.g to you. >> reporter: good morning to you. there are so many things that you can see now with daylight that we did not see when we first got here in the middle of the night. what we did see was this church. we knew that a tornado had swept through, ripped off the front of this building. the roof essentially collapsing and everything on the inside being forced out. so we have cinderblocks. we have pieces of the roof. we have glass. we have wood spread out all over this property here. another thing that we now see, power lines that were right near us all night long that were on the ground. trees that were down on the ground and probably one of the most significant things if you take a look out here on the horizon. widespread damage. out here this is where an apartment building used to be. homes set up in a residential style, many of them gone, the facade the only thing existing now. you can walk into some of the homes, look up and literally see the sky. so, again, this is the scene here
