terrell brown is at zuccotti park in lower manhattan where the protests began. good morning, terrell. what is the mood down there right now? >> when i last counted, less than 30 protesters inside zuccotti park. it is chilly out here too. the temperatures in the upper 30s. a different story than what we saw yesterday. thousands of demonstrators took to the streets, not only here in new york city, but across the country. occupy wall street dreremonstras marched to music in new york city. thousands jammed this plas a last night before walking across the brooklyn bridge. nearby, a light shined 99% on the side of a building. >> it's just an incredible thing to be a part of and i feel like it's part of history. >> reporter: earlier in the day, the protests turned violent and bloody as police arrested more than 300 people, many for trying to block city streets. several officers were also injured. >> police just stormed in and started grabbing people and throwing people to the ground. >> reporter: the protests comes just days after police cleared occupy wall street headq

i'm terrell brown. state college, pennsylvania, home to penn state university, known to many as happy valley, isn't so happy this morning. retired penn state football coach, a long-time member of joe paterno's staff, is charged with sexually assaulting young boys. late last night two university officials charged with a cover-up in the case stepped down. drew levinson has more. >> reporter: former penn state defense coordinator jerry sandusky is out on bail. the 67-year-old is charged with sexually assaulting eight underage boys over a 15-year period. he says he didn't do it. >> jerry's very, very depressed, upset, distraught about the allegations. >> reporter: sandusky coached at penn state for three decades before retiring in 1999. prosecutors accuse him of assaulting some of the victims on campus. the grand jury concludes sandusky had access to vulnerable children through a charity he founded for at-risk kids. pennsylvania attorney general said, this is a case about a sexual predator who used his posi

i'm terrell brown. >>> we begin in los angeles. overnight, the police began to clear the occupy wall street camp. police are enforcing a monday morning deadline for them to leave their encampment at city hall. sandra hues, what is the latest. >> reporter: the arrests began a few moments ago. as you said, there are hundreds and hundreds of los angeles privers down here. most of them are inside that park and they are lined up on sidewalks, trying to separate the crowd. the three people who were arrested, it was not a very violent arrest from what i understand, but they did have to be pushed to the ground to be handcuffed and then carried out. there are about a hundred people inside the camp with their arms locked surrounding a symbolic tent. they tell me they have no plans of leaving the camp this morning, that they are willing to be arrested for a cause they very much believe in. >> sandra, los angeles had been relatively tolerant of the protesters. why crack down now? >> well, it's a good question. you're right. the police have had
