terry mcsweeney is live along lucky drive in cortamadera. what are you seeing? >> reporter: what i'm seeing is some pooling let's call it this is an area that floods every time you get a serious downpour. one thing before i get into the flooding 900 pg&e customers without power in san rafael now. no idea when that power is coming back up. behind me is a spot where you can't see from it here that it is pooling, take a look at video and you can see it is pooling this is from our van about half an hour ago, driving northbound on 101 next to a truck all of a sudden you can see where you are -- you can't see where you are going. every time there's a downpour, it floods. now look at another problem caused by the past storm and expected to be caused by this next one downed trees problem over the past week all over the bay area continues. in larkspur crews removing dangerous branches. friday a branch realize that potential and slammed into a house. >> [ inaudible ] >> reporter: what was the noise like? >> so horrible, loud. >> trees leaning, people are concerned, they a

terry mcsweeney will bring us the latest on this developing story in a live report coming up in 30 minutes. >>> man charged with the murder of missing morgan hill teenager sierra lamar is scheduled to face arraign this morning on additional charges that date back more than three years. 21-year-old antolin garcia-torres was arrested in may for sierra lamar's disappearance and murder based on dna. new charges happened in march of 2009 when he was 17. they involve three incidents that include attempted kidnapping and carjacking. >>> east bay city getting ready to decide whether medical marijuana patients should be allowed to grow pot outdoors. reports the concord city council will discuss the issue tomorrow night. this comes after a woman approached the council to complain about a neighbor growing medical marijuana outdoors. concord banned dispensaries in 2005 but that ordinance doesn't address outdoor grows. >>> in washington republicans and democrats far from a deal. sunday a slight ray of hope as mr. obama and house -- speaker boehner met face-to-face. >>> for the first time we are hearing

reporter terry mcsweeney joins us live, how heavy are they? >> it's pretty light showers but it doesn't stop. it's been going for at least three hours up here, probably longer than that. take a look at pictures, at the summit give you an idea what is going on. you can see some cars and trucks going through. again, nothing heavy, but it just doesn't quit. now with the traffic getting a little heavier, probably a good time to keep that in mind. also, in the north bay, look at pictures we have from the golden gate bridge. showers this morning and video this morning around 2:30 this morning. i came across the golden gate bridge around 3:00, a little bit before, it was light showers at that time. it was coming down heavier down there than it has since i got here to the santa cruz mountains. it was early in the going. we've got a fuel morning in front of us and full morning commute to deal with this rain. nothing in the way of a downpour. haven't seen anything approaching a weather caused accident but again, it is early in the going. terry mcsweeney

this is terry gross of fresh air, npr. what are you doing sneer. >> i'm presenting the literarian award, because they do such a good job with the reviews. >> isn't that the award you won a couple years ago? >> five years ago, yes. >> how many books do you do on "fresh air"? >> a lot. we usually do several a week and i read so many books every year. and for me "the new york times" is valuable because it alerts me to so many books i might not have paid attention to without their flagging. we get so many -- there's so many books we look at all the time on our show, and sometimes it's helpful to have somebody say, this book is great, and maybe you didn't notice it the first time around. and i love reading book reviews. i read so many books i love seeing what other people have to say about the book i'm reading now or am about to read or just read, and if i just read it, i like to compare my thoughts to the reviewer's thoughts and the times has such great writers. >> have you ever been turned down by an author? >> some authors d

terry mcsweeney is live at san francisco general. >> reporter: these two were found last night in the middle of the street bound and gagged. taken to san francisco general, this morning only one is alive. the scene here last night as with the the two were brought here this began on the 900 block of brussels. police arrived to find a man and woman in the street bound and gagged. the man died midnight at the hospital. the woman is still alive. police say as shocking as this is, neighbors do not need to be afraid. >> we don't have any information i don't believe there's any threat to the community. obviously, if anyone had seen anything or known of any suspect description we would like to know that. we urge someone to call san francisco police with any information. >> reporter: the female victim is alive but has
