kimberly. >> reporter: terry this, all happened friday night at about 9:00 p.m. residents here say it was really disturbing to see a young man naked running through the neighborhood. police say they believe the 18-year-old was on some kind of narcotic at the time. according to authorities taky glen minaki went into one of the homes on the 1100 block of colorado charged after a kid punched him and then took off from. there he allegedly tack alderwoman who was out walking her dog. police say he grabbed her from behind and then punched and kicked her numerous times whale she was on the ground calling for help. a neighbor opened his door to find out what the commotion was, and police say minaki charged into his home. the homeowner says he kicked the teenager in the stomach which sent him running off until he reached the end of the cul-de-sac which is where police found him. >> and this person who is totally naked tries to charge through the police officers to escape and swears at hem. he runs into one of the officers, trips, falls, hits the asphalt and must have hurt

i'm terry mcsweeney. >> i'm diane dwyer.ighting back, two store clerks in the east bay took on an armed robber. police say it was a bold move, and even though it worked in this case, they don't recommend it. nbc bay area's kimberly tere joins us from police headquarters in san leandro with more. >> reporter: san leandro police are still trying to find the man who atenltempted to rob that 7-eleven store. surveillance video was taken inside of the store. according to police a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun walked into the store on the 300 block of east 14th street, that's about a half mile from the police station, and tried to rob the two employees working at the time. the two cashiers tried to charge the suspect. a struggle ensued and the suspect was able to take off, leaving the gun behind. >> i consider the two men that tried to apprehend the suspect last night, i consider them to be extremely brave. this obviously is not something that we advocate, that the regular person does. it's extremely dangerous. bu

terry: yes, sir. now the purpose of this inquiry was to discuss some health care alternatives for the v.a. nebraska-western iowa health care system. our hospital for 170,000 area veterans is in serious disrepair. boilers, hvac, emergency generators, just a very suer and water pipes are literally duct taped together. we have heard that it's the second worst hospital infrastructure in all of their ospital inventory. now, even last march, the operating rooms had to be closed down to failing humidifiers, and we're talking about the basic functioning of this hospital, that's out of date. without replacement soon the hospital could face additional shutdowns for costly replacements of this infrastructure. now, currently we are on the list to be built. somewhere around 18 to 20, but the reality is for years now the list hasn't moved. and now our v.a. employees are being told that it would be somewhere in the 2021 to 2022 range. i fear it will be later than that before the new in-patient tower could be built.

right now let's check in with kimberly terry at the scene with the latest for us. >> reporter: diane, i know you can just see smoke behind me but i did look inside the building just a couple of seconds ago and there are still flames inside of that building. there's a lot of heat coming from the fire and i can feel a lot of the mist coming from the water that is being put on it. there are at least two ladder trucks along with a truck with a deck gun shooting 1,000 gallons of water a minute at this fire. this is the old kntv building, close to the san jose fire training facility and the shar tank. firefighters say when they arrived the building was engulfed, crews went in looking for people but were not able to do a complete sweep of the building. we actually just had to move back, firefighters just asked us to move back to make room for an engine coming through. now, this five-alarm fire started at about 3:00 this afternoon, it grew from there. mutual aid needed to be called in almost immediately. there is very heavy smoke making it very hard to breathe and there are ashes falling. nei
