>> reporter: that's right, terry. marchers are on the move for the third straight night here in berkeley. our nbc helicopter is monitoring their progress and last check they were heading toward the berkeley police department. again, hundreds of protesters out on the street. this comes after two very destructive nights here in berkeley. protesters actually faced off with police. students tell me that they feel that the police actually escalated the situation by using their batons and deploying tear gas. now, as of this morning, more than 16 businesses had been damaged from the weekend protests. including coming back live. this corner business on telegraph avenue. this ice cream shop had its windows broken out. many of the businesses along telegraph decided to close early for the night. some of them, like this one have boarded up as a precaution. everybody is crossing their fingers, hoping that tonight's protest remains tame. as yyou mentioned, hundreds are out on the street. some wearing black masks. some dressed for c

terry. thank you for that and thanks for being with us last night as well with the records of air asia jet will give investigators clues as to what caused the crash. some searchers say they saw an object that formed a shadow under the sea in the shape of an aircraft. so could the plane, in fact still be intact? and what would that mean? former ntsb chairman jim hall joins us with the latest. jim, what does that tell us? >> well, it's -- it could be an indication that the aircraft came straight down and there was no breakup of the aircraft prior to contact with with water. >> okay. when you say that, i mean what do you base that on? just the circumstances, some the other evidence that you are getting in? >> well, based on your question clearly as we know we have hopefully, as soon as the recorders are found, we will be able to end this speculation in regard to what happened and we'll have a clear idea of what did occur to this flight and the tragedy that took the lives of all these fine indiv

neely and terry are speaking out after sam's death to expose how long they've been fighting outdated rules that prevent employees from calling 911. >> do you think this policy makes sense? >> it makes sense. >> reporter: augustine is a communications manager for the usps in northern california. he says the policy is intended to get help on the scene quickly and it allows postal police to direct paramedics. he denied employees are instructed not to call 911 in a medical emergency. >> there's nothing that precludes somebody from actually using their own cell phone and calling 911 themselves. >> reporter: but we obtained a copy of the policy in oakland and that's not what it says. it clearly states, only postal police are to initiate the 911 procedure. what's more, the national policy says to notify the health services office, then notify security, who calls 911. employees say managers have even warned they'd have to foot the bill if they called 911. >> we would be responsible for paying. >> that's one of the things management does state fairly regularly, who's going to be responsible f
